It's not only how abject we were that pisses me off, it's the fact that the Macedonians were so bloody awful. Like when we scraped past Slovakia that wasn't so bad because they played some good football, but Macedonia only managed a 1-1 draw with Liechtenstein last month - so that shows what sort of quality they are.

At least your game had goals. I predicted a 0-0 draw between Ukraine and NI beforehand and I wasnt surprised. The closest shot was from the Ukraine which went over the bar. Thats how exciting it was.

David Seaman: Is just embarrasing himself now and if England want to build a team for Euro2004 why not put Paul Robinson between the sticks.
Gary Neville: Played pretty well and was the only defender who could pass
Sol Campbell: Was solid but can't pass and just hoofes the ball forward
Jonathon Woodgate: Was disapointing and under hit passes
Ashely Cole: Was good as always but should be pushed to left Midfield and Bridge to left back.
Michael Bridge: Was a plus point and put in brilliant crosses
Steven Gerrard: Couldn't tackle or pass but scored a good goal
Paul Scholes: Easily Englands most creative player but lost control of the ball a lot
David Beckham: Work rate was brilliant but did not have any effect on the game apart from his goal
Alan Smith: One half of the strikers that actually worked got sent off stupidly but had a good game
Michael Owen: Yet again another disapointing display, yeah he scores a lot of goals but is lazy and spends most of the game on the last defender.

subs
Nicky Butt: A solid performance in for Gerrard and plays well with Scholes and is England best tackler
Darius Vassell: Showed Michael Owen how to work for the ball and never stopped running, in 20 minutes Darius Vassell looked more dangerous than any england player in the last games.

Final verdict: Pathetic

Questions need to be asked about Sven Goran Erikksson, he continues to favour players like David Seaman and Emile Heskey when both players fail to pruduce regulary. Also Darius Vassell has been superb for England in all of his 9 caps but still Sven Goran Eriksson wont play him from the start. Svens substitutes before today have been tottaly sh*te, why put Kieron Dyer on against Slovakia when we couldn't pass the ball let alone run with it, we need players to play the ball along the floor i.e. a Scholes or a Butt not Feking Sol Campbell hoofing the ball forward. IMHO Sven Eriksson is not a better tactician than a Terry Venables or Glenn Hoddle, i think Eriksson is getting a tad predictable.

The Wales game was good though wasn't it

5 3 2 formation

Paul Robinson
Sol Campbell
Gareth Southgate
Rio Ferdinand
David Beckham
Ashley Cole
Paul Scholes
Nicky Butt
Steven Gerrard
Darius Vassell
Michael Owen

Argueably England fittest players Beckham and Cole would be the wing backs. Butt and Gerrard holding the midfield with Scholes floating behind the front two.

As a Scot, I found it quite amusing. Many tv and radio hosts have had a good laugh at Scotlands results lately, one i remember was Nick Hancock. Now I don't really mind because Scottish football is terrible, us up here in Scotland know it better than anyone. It is nice though to see the smugness of some folk brought back down to earth.

what about steve macmanaman he should be in the team cos he is regular goal scorer and good play maker.

Hesky is just a big pile of poo, if they got a card board cut out of bernard manning and put it on the pitch then it would do a better job, also it would seem that owen has lost his hunger for goal scoring for his england, take 2 years ago he was scoring left right and centre, but now as previously stated just seems to stand near the last defender!!

I think the lack of faith may be well founded, but this team is still relatively new and there is a lot to work with. There's a million combinations and you're all right about what would work, with the exception of saying Jamie Redknapp. He's to*s. Alan Smith is absolutely fantastic, but needs to curb his temper. But... remember Beckham a couple of years back against the Argies? My point is made. Heskey is a strong player who wins the ball. A workhorse if you will. Owen is losing his hunger a bit I'll agree, but he's still always a threat and his next goal will prove that. Scholes is on-off but when he's off, he's still playing at international level. Gerrard played really well and was unlucky to go off injured. Campbell is good, but Rio is better suited to that position. And Cole..... f*cking hell he is spot f-ing on. He definitely needs pushing up to midfield with Bridge playing behind him.

I thought the combination of Bridge and Cole worked really well, can't understand why he changed it. If anything he should have taken Owen off and stuck Vassell, he looked right off his game.

The only plus last night was that Heskey was injured! how he keeps getting picked is beyond me. Against Slovakia I think he went down like a pile of shite everytime anyone went near him :x

Shame it's had to end like this for Seaman, not with a bang but a whimper.

And What was Bridge playing at???

Mcmanaman has had his chance for England but like Kieron Dyer only played well against lowly Luxembourg, he can't play for England as well, as he does at club level. Also not being able to pass may hold him back
