Paul gets haircut from hardman Vinnie
Nov 2, 2002, 12:51pm
A Staffordshire man who won the holiday of a lifetime in a radio competition will return to the airwaves to get a haircut from soccer hardman Vinnie Jones.
Paul Titley, of Quinton Avenue, Great Wyrley, won a trip to Las Vegas on DJ Chris Moyles's Radio One show earlier this year and will return to the airwaves on Monday.
While in Las Vegas, Paul attended a party hosted by Chris Evans and Vinnie Jones.
The last thing the hardman turned movie star told 22-year-old Paul was that if he ever saw him again and he still had his sideburns, he would put him through a window. Paul said: "A couple of weeks ago I got a call from Will, the show's producer, saying that Vinnie was going on the show and would I let him shave my sideburns off. I agreed to do it for charity, but I'm really nervous and think I might end up losing all of my hair or an ear!"
All money raised will be donated to Children In Need and Paul managed to secure £200 of sponsorship in the first day. The insurance firm he works for in Birmingham, Allianz Cornhill, has agreed to match whatever sponsorship he manages to raise.
Paul was the envy of thousands when he won the competition six months ago and spent a week rubbing shoulders with stars in Las Vegas. He met celebrities including Christina Milian, Robbie Williams and his favourite band Elbow. "I didn't really get starstruck when I met Robbie Williams. I wasn't sure what to say to him, though, so I just told him I lived near Stoke-on-Trent and he said he had visited Cannock a couple of times," Paul said.
