It's a shame they haven't opened comments on that article, I'd have been interested to see some of the readers' reactions to it.

Unusually, yesterday's Daily Heil article didn't get any comments at all - unless of course they simply weren't printed. Anything which doesn't toe the "party" line doesn't tend to get through.

He mentions here as well as in the RT article that he feels the BBC's 'rules and regulations' are leading to 'dull and formulaic' radio. Has he ever mentioned specifically how he feels constrained by these guidelines? What does he want to do but can't? Does tightening the rules for competitions and rules for reading text messages really have that much of an impact on the entertainment value of a show, or is he just disappointed that the BBC didn't give him more support when the tabloids hounded him over his gaffes, which to be fair, seem to have slipped out whilst he was 'in the flow'.

He wasn't referring specifically to BBC radio when he said that though. He meant radio in general, and how he was trying to work within the current constraints of the medium*, as far as I could tell anyway. He made a point on his show yesterday of saying that that part was not a criticism of the BBC.

*EDIT: Actually, now that I think about it (don't have the magazine with me at the moment) it's more like he's finding the current climate restrictive and hopes that his style of presenting is more refreshing for listeners.
