He was one of Irelands most litened to radio DJ's/broadcasters and died of a heart attack last Friday aged 53. Started off as a pirate in the 70's.
His morning phone in show on national station RTE 2FM had the highest listenership on the station with around 300,000 daily and he was with the station for at least the past 20 years. In a country with around 4million people thats big!
Interestingly Chris Evans was heard on the air in Ireland over the last few days crediting listening to Gerry with giving him the encouragement to go back into radio after leaving the Radio1 breakfast show.
