That's gotta have put him in a really difficult position. Even if he's read all that stuff and formed the opinion that the treatment is a waste of time, he would hardly be able to turn to the family of the ill kid and say "sorry, I'm refusing to help you cos I think you're being conned."

True. Some are not approved by NICE, so a trip to the U.S. or "going private" here may be the only option. Using unproven quacks should not be one of those options, IMO.
