I would like to see Dev getting away from the Graveyard shift and move to another slot like Fearnes or Grimmys. It seems to me like he has been on that shift for a very long time, poor guy.

Woo-hoo! Foots is back, Cox is covering Cotton, I've got to finish work at 10am today (software upgrade been scheduled, how inconvenient, such a horrible day to be kicked out of the office pre-noon) - could today get much better?!!

Very much doubt Sara would keep her show as cover for Fearne will be 6 months to a year (because that's how long maternity leave is) and 6 shows a week for that long is a bit much.

If Fearne were to take full year then this would go to end of Chris's Radio 1 contract. (presuming she's only about 4 months so won't leave till January).

Therefore I reckon that for 2013 the following will happen:
-Sara moves to Fearne's slot
-Chris then takes Sara's Sunday slot.

Then by 2014 Fearne will return and Chris will be booted off to radio 2. Meaning Sara can go back to Sundays.

Quoted for truth. But I suspect I would have left by that time.

Very strange that Chris is considered too old for the breakfast show yet Sara Cox who is the same age not considered too old to do mid m orning show for several months.Very bizarre.Would have thuoght Gemma Cairney would be more in line with Ben Coopers grand plan for the station. This certainly hits rumours that she was moving to radio 2 on the head.

PS congrats to Fearne on her happy news!

Never liked in Fearne Cotton and once Chris leaves the breakfast show i won't be listening to Radio 1.

Having said that, there's more chance of peace in Syria than Chris getting Fearnes slot.

Fingers crossed they swap Dev and Gemma Cairney over like they did with Mills and Nemone before Moyles did breakfast. Gemma Cairney into Nick Grimshaw would sound good. I feel a bit sorry for Dev but to be frank he isnt very good and really is just waiting to be sacked or bumped onto 1xtra. If youre not promoted after 3 years your kinda of *. See: Sarah HB, Nemone, Dick 'n' Dom, Spoony etc etc

I can't say one way or the other for the most part but I did hear Dick and Dom and they were bloody awful. How they even got onto Radio 1 in the first place is beyond me. They should have given J.K and Joel a five day week instead of just Monday to Thursday, plus the Sunday chart show.

Early breakfast is a fairly lucrative gig. It was the launch pad for Moyles Mills and Gregs careers after all.then again Bruno Brookes also did it for a while... :-|

I really like Sara Cox, I think she is a great DJ and entertainer. I would love to see her have a prime weekday slot on R1, but I guess she's too old for that...

Sara Cox once gave me a hug - for that alone, I love her.

I never really got Sara on breakfast but she is probably the best 'daytime' DJ left on R1 (excluding Chris) although I much prefer her (and the music) when she's stood in for someone on Radio 2. She was in for Janice Long last week (12-2am) and I really enjoyed it.

Not really - the Breakfast show is supposedly going to be aimed more at the younger end of the demographic, presumably because kids will be listening before school - at least the early bits anyway - and this is the audience they want to encourage. That particular audience is unavailable for the Morning slot, so I imagine the pressure to keep it "yoof" isn't so great. It makes no sense to cater for 15 year olds when they aren't able to listen.
