I thought he was because recently Aled tweeted that he would be producing again from January.

Sounds like he's focusing on behind the scenes production work - i.e. not really involved with one particular show (except for The Surgery of course). In any event, it definitely sounds like we're not going to be getting Aled with Chris together on R1 anytime soon.

I asked him if he had been promoted to Executive Producer. He replied that the role of Exec Producer has been discontinued, and that there were two paths for career progression available to someone in his position - to continue in production, or to go into editing. Aled told me he wants to stay in production, and that this is what he is doing.

He said that he has not been promoted as such, but that his new role represents progression for him as a producer. He is not going to be specifically producing one show.

He indicated that whilst he is excited to be continuing and developing his role as presenter of The Surgery, he has no plans to move further towards presenting.
