Agree with you Yudster. He is obviously feeling 'distraught', so I very much doubt if he's that upset about splitting up from her, then he wouldn't want to make her any more upset than she is.

That whole pay issue is ridiculous. I've been amongst the first to moan when he is persistently late for the show, and when Aled "accidentally" played the wrong Cheesy Song and then put the right one on this morning I was thinking "here we go again...." - but honestly, fair play to him, if I hadn't been paid since July I wouldn't be at work at all. I hope he remembers to charge them interest (at credit card rates) on the back pay when they finally get around to giving it to him.

After them playing the cheesy song twice (really, couldn't Dave have talked for three minutes?). Chris goes off on one, clearly very agitated. He hasn't been paid for a few months but the rest of the team have. Some bloke at payroll told Chris "not to worry about it". Chris questioned if they would do the same to Terry Wogan or Chris Evans. He said he "doesn't need it" especially right now and said he felt like not coming in because of it. Goodness knows what the BBC is playing at, can't blame Chris for being angry but it wasn't appropriate to mention it on the show imo. Mind you he seemed to feel better after talking to the team about it. I've never heard him so angry/upset on the show before though, it was heavy stuff for a while!

I do feel sorry for Chris and his pay issues, but that said, it did make for a great rant this morning. I don't know why Aled played the cheesy song twice, and Dave didn't talk for the first few minutes as usual. Having to listen to the same song twice in a row actually put me in a bad mood myself before I'd even opened both eyes properly!

I did wonder what Chris meant by 'you know nothing about my life at the moment, I slept on someone's sofa last night'. It was a bit of a strange thing to say and then not explain further. And I agree that Chris is looking very rough at the moment, grey hair or not.

The only part of that article which made me raise my eyebrows was the bit that said that his colleagues tried to "sooth" the situation but that Moyles was "unrepentant". First, no one was trying to sooth anything, they were sympathising and in some cases empathising. And what the * has Moyles got to be repentant about? He hasn't been paid since July! If that happened to me I wouldn't have been in work in August, let alone still there, still unpaid in September. Wankers.

Chris has now made it as far as the Style section of today's Sunday Times. Amazingly enough, it's not for his style, or for last week's pay rant, but for his split with Sophie. The article is called 'Peter Pan Sydrome', and it's pretty fair to Chris for once, with the biggest criticism being that 'he has spent half his adult life living with someone gorgeous for whom he feels no long term responsibility'.

But it claims that he recently (although it can't be too recently) tweeted 'I am sure one day I will settle down and become a family man, but at the moment I'm too wrapped up in myself. The missus seems happy enough enough, unless you know something that I don't.' Now that doesn't really sound like something Chris would tweet!

The piece finishes with what I think is probably a genuinely good piece of advice for a lot of women who are both at a similar age and in a similar situation to the one Sophie was in (and I know a few people like this). 'If you do happen to be living with a man whose jaw hardens when you talk about what you're going to call your children, get upstairs now and start packing.
