Scott Mills did a good job when he filled in for Emma B on the Sunday Surgery showing that he does have a sensitive side to him as well.

Agree it's not nice hearing Cox slurring and shouting at 7:30 am.
I always tune into Radio 1 breakfast when Scott is on. Cox does 2 weeks then is knackered and goes off on holiday.

I hate Cox, she's so annoying. I'm at risk of breaking my radio as when it goes off in the morning I tend to hit it bloody hard because she annoys me so much...

Coxy is more tailored to TV in my opinion as physical humour plays a crucial part of her routine.

However Scott Mills is not the answer. Bland and passe. Competent DJ, but not a trailblazing entertainment dynamo that should be required to present the biggest show on the second biggest radio station in the uk.

That old chesnut about 'sleeping your way to the top is very true'.

May I suggest that some of you lot check out sites such as mediauk.com and find out about some of the innovative and witty presenters doing the rounds on commercial radio. Some of these guys are shackled by a local audience but given an opportunity to present nationally would rightfully earn many plaudits.

Given that your funding Radio 1 and that theres millions of people in the UK, should you settle for scott mills?

As for ditching Mark and Lard, Ads...i've defended you on many an occasions but cannot protect you from the most absurd statement you have ever uttered.

Mark and Lard recieve alot of praise for good reason. They put in a great deal of time and effort producing frequent comedy features, have an inclination of decent music and display and utilise many different levels of humour.

They are also confident enough in their own ablities not to patronise their audience and welcome regular contributions from listeners.

The 'old school' show handovers which occur between the messrs radders and moyles occassionaly are an example of Mark and Lards superiority as chris tries and fails to 'out humour' the duo, failing conistently.

Good point, i think that no other DJ's could repeat a feature over a number of weeks and make the last 'episode' of it as funny as the first.

charliebrown wrote:Scott Mills deserves far more credit for the job he does. Him and Chris Moyles are the the only truly funny DJ's on radio1. Sara Cox has a speech impediment, and i find the only reason i get out of bed in the morning is to turn her off. Keep Mills on! :D

M+L are the funniest djs on Radio1, also i'd like to admit that i wouldn't mind the Dream team on Radio1 daily, fair enough most of the music is crap but i enjoy the banter especially with Moyles.

I can understand why, in a time of need, Radio 1 brought in someone who would bring with them a lot of publicity to do the brekkie show...but sarah cox!? Let's face it, the most important presentational thing in radio is your voice, so for coxy that's already not looking to good. Sh can be funny sometimes, but I think she just gets a bit annoying. Scott can also be funny but I'm not too sure about him on breakfast. I think he' be better placed in a time slot such as the one Mayo had before he left - late morning/early afternoon.

Mayo also had the breakfast show before moving to that 9am slot. The criteria

1. have to have a good speaking voice
2. have to have good show ideas
3. have to interact with your audience
4. have to inject a bit of lively banter and humour

which is why Sara Cox is failing. For a start the news every 15 minutes doesnt help her, just makes her more lazy than she already is.

I suppose i'll have to drag my inexperienced yet youthfull carcass into the running as breakfast show host.

heres my cv

degree
hotel manager
cleaner
data entry keyer

With a cv like that I can't see how Mr Parfitt couldn't give me the job.

i think that sara cox should stay on in the mornings for one reason.
i often have to wake up early duri g the week and my alarm is radio. when sara cox is on i get out of bed to turn it off. so it gets me up. but when scott mills is on i simply stay in bed and often end up fallin back asleep.Image

fuuny- that mr stevo. i'm sure i sent you an e-mail saying that not many media students fresh of the nations uni would get a good job straight away. patients is the key and i'm sure if mr parfitt wants some new staff then he'll get in contact with you. surely- bbc cornwall have a few tea boy (lizzie Bucks style jobs) on offer? just go down to your local radio station and demand to see the station manager. say your off to the lawyers and call yourself Chris Moyles. Then let the whole world know that you are the next chris moyles.

hotel manager.. nice job actually. why leave?

as for mark and lard- i just don't seem to get there funny being? they must not appeal to me- like certain members of the opp'site sex. "sorry love- your just not my type".

Lots of people are doing plain media degrees, thats why I only did a minor in it and majored in History.

Its not just media graduates having problems finding jobs, it seems most graduates are. Makes you wonder whether it was worth getting 10 grand in ebt.

I think theres a better chance of me sleeping sleeping with a sexy millionaress than Mr Parfitt giving me a call.

I'm currently trying to sweet talk my way into my local radio station but the beer gut detracts from the intended illusion. I'm sure theres some DJ out there who could do with a few poorly concieved ideas and a good strong cuppa

I'd like to know when you last heard Red Dragon? I live near enough to hear the station reguarily, and I think it sounds great.

The music is strong, fantastic production (I think they use Dave Kelly as the voice)they've got a strong line up of jocks, Ben Weston (ex City FM, Viking) Warren Moore (ex Aire FM, Minster), David Francis (ex Chiltern FM, Southern FM - who I believe is the groups promo voice), David Rees (ex GWR Network), Emma B (ex Plymouth Sound), Emma Hignett (ex Jazz, Heart 100.7)

Got this from a media forum, Emma bloody B apperently worked for the radio station I'm trying to break into...well thats my non-career defiently over.

jesus- £10K?

do a moyles and meet up with a record breaking runner. either that or get a private trainer and lose the beer gut. funny really- nice good looking people (slim etc) go to Uni and come out fat after drinking loads of beer.

the reason that graduates are finding it hard to find jobs is because employers are looking for people with other things to offer. Take DJ_Phil- he said he's in a 21K job as a Hire Manager. He got the job instead of a graduate.... what does that suggest? A) that the best jobs aren't always for graduates (depends what you wanna do by the way) Accountant, Lawyer, Doctor etc.... b) non- graduates have better person'itly.

Yup, have to agree with Ad there. I'm planning on doing a media degree, but I'm only going to do that to show I've got the qualifications, I wasn't planning on using it as a way of getting a job as I knew that it doesn't work like that.

I started at Hospital Radio (great experience, looks good on a CV, fantastic fun) and after only a year doing that I'd got a job with scottish radio holdings, a job which is really cool and all the other people in the building who do that job have already got their degrees and experience, so (hopefuly) that means I'm ahead of the game...

13.00 - 16.00 Mark and Lard - Hilariously funny (bring back London's not burning)
16.00 - 17.45Moyles - Even funnier, fully deserves that new TV show of his, pity it's on Channel 5
18.00 - 20.00Emma B - Quite good
20.00 - 22.00Evening Session - Lamacq is not bad and plays a good mix of music
