Yep, giving him three or four hours a week, as opposed to eight hours a week would really benefit him. That was a well thought out argument.

if you think about the gigs he does when his show is on. He has missed a couple of shows this year due too d.j'ing at venues. If you gave him say. 3 - 4 hours on friday. 9 - 12 it would go nice.

Basically. You'd have this.

19:00 pete tong
21:00 zane lowe
00:00 annie mac's mash up.
02:00 judge jules
04:00 annie nightingale.

Wireman, I've got a great idea. You're clearly spending a lot of time working all this out - why don't you email it to Radio 1 and see if you can get feedback on it. That way you wouldn't have post it on here. Ever again.

Right, so owing to a couple of gigs during the year, he should permanently be given one show a week... on a night when lots of people go out?! Fantastic idea.

Do you have any idea that the general consensus on here is that you're a moron?

Johnny1989 I'm not saying age affects all DJs, as you also highlighted-it's the content that matters as well.

For Trevor Nelson or Pete Tong to be on radio 1 is fine as their content is in the broad interests of much of the youth today as well as the music they play but (and bear in mind he is among my favourite DJs) for example if Stuart Maconie were to broadcast on Radio 1 it would be ridiculous due to the type of some of the music he plays and his style and the majority of young people today would rather here Huw Stephens do the same kind of thing.

Oh, Russell Brand. I know he wouldn't get on Radio 1 if he paid them, but i do miss hearing him on radio. I know he did that show with Ross the other week, but that was sport and I'm not remotely interested in sport...

The other DJs I like would be, as has already been mentioned, entirely inappropriate for R1. Mark & Lard, Stuart Maconie, Andrew Collins. And there's a bloke called Moose on Manchester Rock Radio whose tones I find most pleasing.

True I suppose, I can't speak for Maconie but Radcliffe used to play a good mix of music could also be known for playing lesser known tracks. I think he'd be great as one of the "specialist" DJ's on the Radio.

I just think Radio 1 rely too much on the whole "youth" thing. Radio 1 have a great audience share at the moment, so what if they're a bit older? Better to have a bigger audience with a more broader age range than a lesser audience with a narrow age range. The truth is that although there is quite a few youngsters who like Radio1, quite a few also like stations like 1Xtra, Kiss, Galaxy & Choice, for example, so it wouldn't matter what age the DJ's are, some youngster see Radio 1 as "naff", probably, because, it plays a range of music & also has that "BBC" tag.

I realise that may sound a tad silly, but believe me, when I was at school 10 years ago about half of my school would call you "lame" for listen to Capital FM or Radio 1, if you were "down with the street" then you'd say you listened to Choice or Kiss.
