The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Personally i'm not happy that The Bill is being axed. I can't see anything wrong with the show. Since it's changed to it's Thursday 9pm slot i have found the story lines pretty good and there's some good characters in there. Big mistake ITV.

It's not a big mistake if there are too few people watching it though, is it? I mean ITV have to keep the advertisers happy.

To be fair though Topher, ITV more or less did a Brookside on it. Considering that Thames Television was the only former ITV franchise to survive after they lost their franchise (and still do in a round about way today as Talkback Thames) the series did well for around 8-10 years, the problem was they started tinkering with it (the dropping of the 1988 theme for a start) and I think they fiddled with it one too many times which alienated a lot of their audience. I watched some of the 1988 episodes & highly enjoyed them, I watched an episode of The Bill last year and just lost interest in it unfortunately.

Maybe it is for the best in the long run, but it's a shame that the show is being axed after so many years, I doubt however that it'll get a revival in 5-10 years like Doctor Who did, mainly as many have tried to do their version of The Bill & they've failed.

It does annoy me when a channel tinkers too much with a show, messes its timeslot about, and then takes it off the air saying "Clearly times have changed and audiences have moved on".
