I know I'm not a supporter, I have never been to a football match in my life - what Magenta's saying is right, I just follow my team and watch them on tv, and see the scores every weekend.

Did you even read what I said. No, didn't think so. Another one of the many forum posters who disregard anything thats said previously and spouts the same rubbish in further posts. Yes it can cost £100 btw. I also think I can 'support' my team as you put it, more in contributions i take it, by purchasing their replica kits, scarfs, merchandise, subscribing to webcast matches thru their website, thanks.

How can it cost £100 to get into a football ground?! At Crewe it costs about £5 for students, £14 otherwise, even at Everton last year it was less than £20.

You DON'T support them if you just sit at home watching/listening to the games & go about twice a season, & getting behind the players by shouting at your computer screen/radio/TV. That's ridiculous.

I mean, fair enough if you were born in the area, or you went regularly for a period of time then due to circumstances beyond your control you had to move away, or you became a tramp on the streets or something so couldn't afford a tenner to get in, or something similar, but otherwise there's not really an excuse.

i used to go see man u when i could but its so difficult now because theres no way i can afford a season ticket so applying for them means you have almost no chance of getting them. plus because im down here travel is such a hassle (i cant drive yet). i still support them but dont get to watch them very often.

Hence people supporting their local club, so it doesn't cost you £x to travel to get to the ground before you even consider ticket prices. But like I said, if you moved away or whatever that doesn't apply. I wouldn't want to drive into Manchester if I was a United fan, coming back from City was ridiculous (both Utd & City were playing on the same night) & it took over 2 hrs+ to do a 30/45 minute journey. :/ The people across the road go to watch Manchester United every week and leave at something stupid like 12pm to get there just because the traffic gets so stupid later on.

It can quite easily cost £100, even if i didnt take my son, it wouldn't be much less, probably £75 once you add travel, food, drink, programs.

If you'd read what I said you'd also understand its impossible to goto Celtic Park for league matches. Its sold out every single time they play at home. There is something like 55,000 season ticket holders. The few matches I manage to get too are usually early cup games or early European qames where season tickets dont count.

I don't see how I can't be called a support just because I dont go to all the games.

magenta you are full of crap. im an everton fan because when i was little everyone was a red or a blue because they won everything. i freely admit to being a glory supporter but i have stuck with them an would never consider changing now.

as for the cos i cant afford the £20 never mind the parking and travel on top of it. when i was younger i used to have a season ticket to preston but they were never my local club i just went because my dad did. the only club i have ever really supported is everton but i have no ties to any team. i suppose my local team is wigan but i have a deep loathing of them anyway...

Glory-hunting is the preserve of the inadequate.
They start supporting the succesful, glamourous club in the hope that it will rub off on them. What really pisses me off about these glory-hunting twats is for example the Man United fans from Nottingham who will rip the piss out of Forest or County despite being born and bred Nottinghamians.
ps: I am not paying £20 to watch Grimsby Town.
pps: I'm glad Arsenal got beaten, as they were getting dangerously close to our record.
