The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

I'm delighted at how Chris responded. It was more a "what are you doing?" response than a "shut up twat" response, which was exactly what was required here from his perspective.

From mine, I'm quite happy to go with the "shut up twat" response. But then it's well known what I think if newspaper journalists.

Next year, comic relief boxing fight between Gordan and Chris. This needs to happen!

"The comment section... have been disabled". Oh for *'s sake. Putting aside the fact that this has already been mentioned this morning, would it really have been too much trouble for you to have read that back before giving into the desperate urge to click "Submit"? I'm not even getting involved in the second sentence.

Sorry if this seems unnecessarily pedantic, but we are now on page thirteen of this thread, and the amount of semi-literate repetitive nonsense in here is ridiculous. Your post is just the most recent in a long line of examples.

If there is nothing new to say on the subject, then say nothing. Don't just post what somebody else has already posted, but with worse grammar.

I too thought Chris pitched that extremely well. He pulled apart the article inaccuracy by inaccuracy, injected just enough of a veiled threat, and pointed out the good relationship he's always had with the Sun.

I also agree with him entirely that it was cowardly for Smart (and the Sun) to run the article on a Saturday, and it's cowardly of them to remove the comments section from today's article on the website - especially after a personal attack on Aled.

It struck me as soon as I saw this on Saturday that it has come not long after Chris referred to Smart and the coverage afforded to the show by him when the Sony Award nominations were announced. Chris compared the difference between the mention of Scott Mills and himself, and mused on the reasons why. Maybe this was Smart trying to make a point in response, but in my (admittedly biased) opinion, it has backfired on him and the Sun, and left Chris looking the bigger and better person.

Long may the breakfast show live - Chris is the only thing that keeps me tuned in to Radio 1, despite the shortcomings of the playlist.

Helen.

I like Goldie - a new member who is articulate and who I agree with (in that post anyway.) Stick around!

Me too. Makes a refreshing change. Although I suppose I'm still a new member as well, I just don't feel like I am.

I love Gordon is a Moron!

Oh my, was sat in the car listening to it (turned upto work early as I had no idea what shift I was on, glad it wasn't the 8am shift!).

Never heard Chris rant like that before (and that was calm?! Awesome).

Gonna be interesting to see how far this gets taken back and forth with back-biting, but as others have said, it wouldn't suprise me if he did move on next year (5 years of early mornings has gotta take its toll) to bigger and better things.

Also, any idea of how much the ratings went up?

(And website traffic for here!)

How on earth does a self-confessed massive radio geek go from the biggest radio show in the UK to 'bigger and better things'?! I appreciate eventually he'll have to move on, but I don't see it being in the next year and possibly a fair bit longer than that, personally.

I don't think you can check them for one show, can you?

I still say the reply to the Will Young Arsey email clip is one of his best rants. He does give a good rant when he needs to. Although I understand why this one had to be more restrained.

The song isn't called Gordon Is A Moron. The original artist (and I use that word with trepidation) was a chap called Graham Fellowes, who, in 1978 created the punk(ish) persona of Jilted John. The song was also called Jilted John. It was originally around in the early Spring of 1978 but didnt become a hit until the summer - August I think.

Well - I still love it. I knew the artist was Jilted John and I did know Graham Fellowes, though I'd have been hard pushed to remember it. I didn't know the song was called Jilted John too though.

what the hell is Gordon Fart bangin on about on Sun Talk?

I like the final bit he says on the clip that Jono put up; He may feel like CM shouldnt get his gun start and shooting at him. Personally I'm right behind him with a second gun.

Chris may very well leave within the year, nobody knows what the future has in store, however for Gordon Fart to publicy claim that he's to be axed just after Chris has denied it on Radio 1 this morning (which I think may have also been that time of the show when figures are at their highest?) is him blatantly starting a war of words between the 2. I'd be very interested to know what Chris was referring to this morning when he told GF not to make him say something on air because it would embarass him.
