I'm glad you're enjoying it. I hope people don't give you too hard a time just for disagreeing with the majority opinion here, but be prepared to be challenged!

I've officially left Radio 1 now...it was fun while it lasted but I am not keen on the changes they keep making

If anyone else is familiar with Hawksbee & Jacobs on Talksport then they'll know that that was a definite 'Marie Gosney'.

If it ever happens again, the Alan Sugar interview is going to seperate the two breakfast show hosts. LOL

Poor ol Grimmy. Ive heard far worse DJs but I just cant be bothered to start up again with another host even if Grim turns into a comedy god (which he aint)

Either I'm old or the youth of today has now been brainwashed to think that something that actually is bad is good. I feel sorry for our future.

So I gave 6 Music a go this weekend at waking me up & on both occassions was woken up by proper songs (the artists sang and there were instruments being played in tune) and the DJ was no other than ex-Radio 1 DJ Nemone, she didn't shout, she spoke, and she knew how to talk to her guest as well as present. All in all a lovely way to wake up to at the weekend.

Gemma Carney, take note how to do a radio show, shouting at your audience and guests is not presenting.

I remember when Nemone did Early Breakfast, and I really enjoyed listening to her - she has a lovely soft voice, and she never annoyed me. I miss her.

As for Grimmy's first week - it was never going to replace Moyles, but still it was disappointing and he's really struggled so far IMO. I don't think he's well suited to morning radio, he's out of his comfort zone and it shows. And to think he was my preferred choice for taking over from Chris originally... Pfffft. My bad there.
As things stand, I'd prefer Dev to be doing the show.

Didn't Gemma Carney come over from 1Xtra? That explains a lot.

Monday is try Grimmy day, 1D mentioned as soon as i switch on, flacid joke about a special area for grown ups at teen awards, Tina didn't even laugh, just sounded embarrased, he persisted with chatting to her, it was poor, i switched off.

i'd rather eat fishermans friends

yes thats real ones or the cough drops

I'm persisting with it and it's okay. He's getting more confident in involving Matt and Fiona (although not Tina much yet as she's not in the studio and apparently, as someone else said, reading the news from a coat closet) and yes there is a lot of focus on the Teen Awards at the moment, but that's exactly what Chris would have been doing. I take a perverse pleasure in listening, cos I'm exactly the sort of listener that Radio 1 was looking to get rid of and they haven't managed it. I'm such a rebel :)

^This.

I've been a 6Music devotee for a few years now, and the difference between 6Music and Radio 1's DJs is striking. I swear they must give the new DJs on Radio 1 an induction booklet telling them to shout as loud as they can while on mic....it hurts my ears.

Radcliffe and Maconie are a good lunchtime to afternoon listen, with good old Lamcaq for the drivetime slot :D

Might give 6 Music a go myself. Only time I have listened to any of that station was when Edgar Wright, Nick Frost & Simon Pegg did the show that was broadcast on New Year's Day. Some of the music played was pretty good and much more listenable than some of the guff on Radio 1 nowadays.

They were a stupidly strong lozenge back in the '90's (are they still around?!)

Anyhow, I'm extremely irritated by the dumbing down that's going on with The Breakfast show's twitter account. It's as if they've let a random listener take control and use it as their personal account.

It amused me today that Nick said he had suggested doing the Tina Awards and Matt said they'd already done it, but Tina had no recollection of it. Once again I was going "it's in the sound vault!"

Yes, I think they are the same still. I tried some for the first time a few months ago and I thought they were quite nice...

Just back from three weeks holiday this week, so I decided I'd give it a go.

Monday morning, listened for an hour. Left my headphones at home so couldn't listen at work.

Tuesday morning, listened for an hour.

At this point I gave up. I have to say that Grimmy's fine and all and I wouldn't mind listening to him but the playlist is dire and he's still at that point where he's being a good boy and playing lots of songs. It's remarkable just how much Chris and the team's chat (and own opinions of the music) protected me from the utter guff that they play on Radio 1.

I tried 6Music when the team were on holiday and it definitely wasn't my taste. If I listened to the local DJs in the Glasgow area I'd end up punching the radio. I even tried Radio 2 this morning and was pleasantly surprised to find Chris Evans wasn't on. No, instead it was some other guy who annoyed me and somehow still managed to play rubbish music!

So now I'm listening to the last week of the Chris Moyles Show. I missed it when I was away after all, so it's at least new to me. After that... who knows. As much as Moyles Rewind is a brilliant idea, I don't think that's quite the answer for me. I'm fairly sure I do like up to date music, but apparently the BBC are just picking the up to date stuff I don't like. Maybe I've missed something.

Give me a shout if Grimmy stops being corporate though.

'Showbot' (the clip spouting Roy Walker 'equivalent') chiming in with 'Connor Maynard would get it' and 'I want Justin Bieber's floppy disk' this morning really put me off. Seems that they've replaced juvenile, mildly sexist humour that's aimed at all ages, with juvenile mildly sexist humour that only appeals to young teenage girls - the type that isn't really funny.

I quite like the non pop music though. It sounds like T4 Radio.

Just had a reply from Tina saying she'll listen to it. Exciting stuff! I'm so sad.

He needs to stop the patronising tone he had when speaking to his guest on that "Wheel of 4tunes" feature this morning and while speaking to Fearne at the end of the show. The listeners aren't stupid, and they aren't 5.
(Edit - In other words they aren't in One Direction. LOLZ)
