The "Detox" month in Jan 2005 drove me a bit batshit. Mainly because they kept banging on about the whole "detox" concept, as if it really existed.
There's no such thing. The worst example was Rachel going on about her "Detox patch" she was wearing on her ankle. What the hell is that supposed to do?!?
By going on a diet and decreasing alcohol intake, you are not "removing toxins" from your body. That is the function of your liver and kidneys. Eating better and drinking less is fine, if you do it as a permanent thing, not for 30 days. Doing that and then going back on the booze is really not doing you much good. Especially for Chris, who admits that he was smoking 40 cigarettes a day.
Eventually all the nonsense is brought to a halt after a week or two by, of all people, Sophie, as she tells Chris to STFU about it. And he does. PHEW!
