I think you'll find that Viv was in fact agreeing with me ;)

No. A bacon roll is a roll. A chip roll is a roll. A bacon sandwich is a butty and a chip sandwich is a butty.

foot-loose wrote:I've never heard of a butch or whatever Ezza was calling them.'

Ezza is butch you say? That's a bit harsh.

foot-loose wrote:Topher - mayonnaise can only go in a bacon buttie IF its a BTL. Or a BLT if you want to conform to standards.

No. Try it, seriously.

Hellman's Mayonnaise is shit though. Generally most mayonnaise is OK, but Heinz is the preference.

Sainsbury's French mayonnaise is the nicest.

Mayonnaise should be an option. Too often I go into shops and find the pre-packed sandwiches have it as standard. I hate mayonnaise. If you like it, you can always add it. Once it's there, you can't take it off.

Seconded! I love mayo with peas!

Mayo with peas is gorgeous, it's the future. In fact mayo goes with most things, I had it with steak and new pots last night. Bacon sarnie with ketchup and mayo is divine. And it's ketchup NOT red sauce!

I didn't call it red sauce. I called it tomato sauce.

I like it with chips or egg for sandwiches or as foots said...

That's good too.

However, I'm a Salad Cream kinda gal - I like it with my peas, brocolli or runner beans or with dry pasta. I just find mayo rather bland sometimes. Brown sauce... now that's good.
I can honestly see my fridge in my new flat being filled with just condiments as for some reason I love them and that I always need a side of sauce with my meal. It's bizarre.

Buttie/Sarnie/Roll wise... anything that's in between two slices of bread is a sarnie, apart from chips for some reason; that's always been called a chip buttie, I blame my dad, and anything that's in a roll is... well... a roll!

That was a bit harsh.. you could have explained that threads tend to do that round here.

And people say I'm not welcoming.

Well I've decided I'm not playing nicely anymore. If you set your expectations rock bottom you'll never be disappointed. Ergo if I am harsh and abrupt most of the time then people will be pleased when I am nice.
