They cancelled it. The British government can't afford it so TOC repossessed it.

I couldn't organise a fight in Northern Ireland, so a major international event is slightly beyond my means.

It's a good thing I wasn't asking you to do anything as untoward as organising a fight then. As it stands, I didn't need the FAQ section anyhow. I just went directly to 'Sponsor Chris' and had no problem. They automatically convert it into dollars.

Sponsoring Chris just now was my good deed. :)

Someone's probably already pointed this out - but shouldn't they're be a "possibly" answer for this poll? Or is the limit of answers 4?
Whatever it could have been, I'd still have voted for "God I hope so".

The updates are coming in thick and fast, the only one so far was over 7 hours ago, which said they saw a monkey.

There aer a lot of areas where a signal is hard to come by - when they have a signal they are updating regularly.

Hehe, i know that, i was taking the piss more than anything.

Aled's twitter says he's just spoke to Chris and Rachel, and they have already climbed twice the height of Ben Nevis, so they are doing well.

Thanks for that!
I'm looking forward to seeing the documentary on the 12th. Wonder if they'll all make it... :?

Seems that they are removing images so I decided to host this one (After the other one I posted disappeared).
Another decent photo of Mr Moyles and Co.

"Chris Moyles is probably used to drinking lots of beer," says Mr Garside. "If he drinks water to the same amount he will be fine."

I would like to hear Chris' response to that article... particularly the opening paragraph!

Just read some updates, apparently a man who was climbing the mountain and was a day or so in front of them collapsed from altitude sickness, and the Red Nose (The Teams) doctor had to go help him.

The team saw said man being taken down the mountain on a stretcher and with an oxygen mask covering his face. Just goes to show you never know how it's going to affect you. They must be worrying, i know i would be.

Yeah that’s going to affect you seeing that happening, I think the team will be glad to get through tomorrow in one piece after seeing that. I don’t think I could stand the fact that you never know when the altitude is going to strike, or if it’s going to affect you in a major way. Makes what they are doing that much harder and that much more amazing!!

Certainly puts a silence on those who are saying it's an easy job. There's definitely a realistic chance that some of them might not make it.

Day three of the BT Red Nose Climb started off with a special sing-song for birthday boy Ronan Keating over breakfast – swiftly followed by the singer being presented with a giant cake. But as the day wore on, the celebrations were halted as the celebrity climbers were forced to take on board the enormity of their fundraising feat for the first time on their grueling trek up Mount Kilimanjaro.

Just as the girls reached camp towards the end of a long day’s climb, word reached the team that a male climber not far ahead in another group was suffering from acute altitude sickness.

The celebrities’ mood quickly turned from one of jubilant confidence to sombre reality when they witnessed the climber being stretchered down the mountain in an attempt to save his life.

It came after a successful acclimatisation trek up Mount Kilimanjaro’s treacherous Cathedral Ridge, a face of the mountain so steep that the climbers had to scramble with their hands and feet for the first time on the climb. As the news spread, the BT Red Nose Climb doctor rushed on ahead to assist the man taken ill.

In a state of shock, the girls were all tearful as they stopped for the night at a barren camp 3800 metres high. Cheryl described how she felt when she witnessed the climber being dramatically taken down the mountain to a lower height:

"He looked scared’ She said. ‘Really frightened and it shook all of us up. You feel really strange at this altitude anyway, emotional and strange - then to see that really got to us. I started to wonder if I was suffering from it too - but I'm alright and we've got each other to help us get through and hopefully get all the way to the top."

Kimberley said: "This is hard, the walking is tough, but the altitude makes you feel so different. It was great to climb so high today but to see that man looking so panicked was horrible. I'm so glad we are all here to support one another, it would be impossible otherwise."

After witnessing such a dramatic event the celebrities are now keeping a close eye on each other for symptoms of altitude sickness among the team. The A-listers have experienced mild headaches and nausea so far with Fearne also suffering from occasional nose bleeds. Thankfully, overall, the group are coping with the altitude fantastically well so far.

Still suffering from severe back pain, Gary Barlow was forced to wait behind during the optional acclimatisation walk today. Gary said "I woke up with bad back this morning. The rest of the guys did a big acclimatisation climb, but I gave my back a rest and went with a guide on my own for a lonely 4 hour trek. It was the right thing to do though - I'm feeling better tonight - big day tomorrow."

Chris Moyles faced a huge challenge of his own today when he had to overcome severe vertigo to reach the dizzy heights of Mount Kilimanjaro’s terrifying Cathedral Ridge. While reflecting on his detox to prepare for the challenges of the climb he exclaimed “Never mind Gary's back, my liver is in danger of turning a normal colour!

Does anyone else find it embarrasing that 90% of the money raised so far has come from the Radio1 site. I'm sure had Chris and Fearne not been climbing the official site would have raised more than it has but certainly not to the extent Radio 1 has helped. Also I'm sure for Rallyoke they only raised half a mil with Chris and Scott putting in about 3 grand each to get it to that total. And that's when they had the Truck of Luck as a prize.

I think it's been a great effort this year, credit crunch and all. t

I do wonder how people would have known about the climb if it wasn't for Chris (and Fearne I guess, but I haven't really heard her talk much about it).
Chris seems to be the big money-maker for this one. Only the more hardcore Alesha Dixon fans are going to know she's doing it, same goes for all the others.

All the advice seems to be take it as slowly as possible and I'm sure they are doing that. Doesn't mean it's not difficult though - it clearly is.

I would rather feel proud of them than embarrassed about it - although I know what you mean. None of the others really seem to have done much, and I can't think of any publicity generated by Cheryl and Kimberly at all.

How brilliant was the £53k raised this morning for the assault course challenge though? They've been set up with the aim of raising £100k over the week - well, thats been done already. And Dave reading Carries email for Major Tom was hilarious.
