I trust Aled's investigative journalism abilities more than just about anyone that theoretically does journalist job for a living.

Although it's admittedly a lot easier when the investigating involves phoning colleagues!

Thanks Aled. I may not believe anything The Sun prints, but I still feel better knowing you've spoken to the relevant people about it.

Can the Sunday Surgery this week be themed "The Health Hazards of Newspapers"?! Bring them back as chip wrappers I say - newsprint is a lot less troublesome than the stuff it's used to print.

I find it quite funny that accirdung to Aled the story is true. Albeit for a given value of true, one that's very very thin indeed.

It's basically like me saying that after next week the sun (body not paper) will enlarge enough to swallow the earth destroying it.

It is true, it just so happens that it's 5 Billion years after next week.

I don't want to take away from the positivity on the forum... but what I'm saying is that it's not true there's a plan. I don't know how long we'll be on-air or what Ben and Andy have in their minds as the master plan for Radio 1.

There just isn't some secret plan to move Chris and the team

It's pretty funny thinking about it...wen moyyysey slated the sun about the sony's...and they come out with this...all I have is one word now for the Sun:

FAIL

and a picture to go with it:):

Aled you ledgend!
When i heard Smart on 5live last night I couldent help but think that its just somebody in radio 1 making a few quid for providing a couple of quotes...and bang, you have a radio 1 source for a mickey mouse front page story. That its come from one of the NewsCorp brands is no surprise either, The Sun, Sky News, Fox News all go in for these makey-uppie storys. just look at the Sky News coverage in the run up to the g20 protests , they were positively wetting themselves with excitement at the thought of a ruckus in central London.

If any good comes from this its probably that all the coverage should give Chris a litlle extra bump in the next set of ratings and for the C4 show. The old saying about any publicity is good publicity is usually true!

by the way, what a golden hour yesterday, complete with strings outro...fantastic!

Can i be the first to start a petition to get Snazy20 banned? I know it's only small, but * me that moyyyyysey bollocks is annoying.

On a side note, Gordon Smart has his head up so many people's arses it's unreal, he's a prize *.

On the actual story, this is the same paper that called for Jade Goody's head on a plate, branded her racist, tried to make everyone in Britain hate her, then compared to her to Princess Di in her final months of living. Anyone who takes this paper seriously is a Grade A gonk.

No for the banning request. However....

Excellent use of the word Gonk as an insult.

I expect the next set of audience figures to be fairly good b because of all the Kiliminjaro coverage. That coupled with Chris winning a gold award at the sonys ,if it hapens, will make his position pretty secure for the forseeable future!

Just wanted to chip in and also say thanks to Aled for adding his comments to the thread.

I've been listening to Chris and team for a while now and can honestly say I felt gutted when I heard this on the news. But as people have mentioned, The Sun isn't exactly the top of the newspapers when it comes to quality journalism.

Anyway, my point was i'm glad it's been denied by the BBC. I am enjoying the show and long may Chris' reign continue on the Radio1 breakfast show throne.

Thanks for clarifying Aled!

I'm wondering now - wasn't Gordon Smart supposed to do the Kilimanjaro climb with Chris, Gary et al then he pulled out at the last minute. Think I read he said had a family bereavement but I noticed he never took any time off work. Is there some sort of bad blood now that's led to his Sony comments and all of this ?? :o

Re: it being in the Sun, they were a disgrace over Hillsborough but they do print true stuff too. Maybe it's just based on the contract renewal thing. Now if it were the Daily Star I wouldn't believe there was anything in it. 8)

Ha. What a * indeed.

The battle for advertising revenue is certainly a key factor at the minute, it just seems to me that what with Chris being as successful as he is, he is the eye of the storm, the BBC doesn't survive on adverts, so those in the commercial sector can only drool at what he could do for them if they had him on side. If the writing is on the wall it will only be if the BBC respond poorly to intimidation and pressure from 'The Scum's campaign of lies and smears. They operate on a divide and conquer strategy. Smart's refusal to accept that Moyles has many more miles on the clock wherever he chooses to be just proves what a * dick he is.

Yes, many thanks Aled, don't let the bastards try and influence dicision making, it's the listernership you attract not the person or age you are.

If this is true then RADIO 1 are going to lose so many listeners, I can guarentee if Chris and the team go there is NO WAY I will ever listen to radio 1 again!! Chris is fantastic and i will lose all respect for Radio 1 if they get rid of him.

The Sun has a History of making things up so I for one didn't believe it when I read it. Perhaps a little mistimed on their part considering it's just been the Aniversery of the Hillsborough Disaster, and we all know about The Sun's involvment there.

I'm surprise, like a few others in this thread, that anyone actually believes this bull.

Monday morning should be good.

This is worthy of capitals:

I CAN'T WAIT FOR CHRIS TO TALK ABOUT THIS ON MONDAY!!

Let Chris' arse kicking of The Sun commence. I think he could mention Hillsborough and how they constantly dig up shi*te that isn't true....If Chris dosn't say anything then I think he could well sue over this one, this is personally damaging to his career compared to other reports, it has been on the BBC news all day.

Although this: ''The reports of my (radio) death are greatly exaggerated ...'' (Twitter) dosen't fill me with great confidence.

Yes not the best way to respond.... How the hell that is front page news I will never know, surely there are much bigger stories, like the G20 police problems, Pirate Bay or some other news. ( Ohh its the Sun .... never mind its no shock really :) )

must say this now.

Could we possibly lock this topic. Not because of anything bad what we have said. But with the post made by in4308. That chris could sue.

If i could respectfully ask if we could lock this topic until we know if chris may or may not sue. Because knowing the sun. They could bring up anything and may even bring up this thread and this website too put anything against chris

Thanks.
Paul.

ok, you've lost me, what in this thread that The 'Fun' could use against Chris? The story is without foundation, and false. All that's been said is that they are a crap, false story telling, hypocritical paper who will use any story to sell papers. (see Jade Goody example).

This website is nothing to do with Chris (Moyles), anything said here does not represent the views of him.
