I'm glad I started this thread, this has turned into quite a lively discussion.

I only download music for the following reasons:

1. It's an old song that can't be bought anymore.
2. It's a song that I like, but in my opinion not worth paying £4 for.
3. It's a song that I've heard in a club and can't find in the shops.

If MP3 didn't exist I don't think I'd spend any more money on CDs than I do now, MP3 is just a convenience. I can't listen to MP3s at uni anyway, unless I upload them onto my MP3 player on a weekend at home.

Oh yeah, this is my 500th post, so I'm now a 4 star poster!!

I get what you mean, Im sure I read somewhere the cd's cost the manufacturers something ickle like 26p for cd. Since I got a voucher today, I went off and bought the red hot chili pepper album, cos I liked Bytheway and the new one, the zephyr song. The album isnt as great, infact its pants in places. Havent properly listened to it all, so will postpone more ranting on it.

Downloading music = good! I do, we all do. It saves sooooo much money and get a greater variety of songs on your computer, which you dont have to dig out like diff cds. im all for it!
