You've contradicted yourself. They did say they liked bits but also stated what they didn't like, so your response shows that you clearly do have a 'problem'. Do you live in north Korea perchance ?

Nearly. I live in North Kent.
Frogo said that he used to listen and that it he rarley if ever smilled and that it had become stale and old. How in that is he saying bits that he likes?

Generally I love the show, but there have been occasions where I think, "OK, stop now, you've milked it to extreme". I'm not being negative about the show, but I think a few of of us "get it" before the majority do.

That makes me sound like a intellectual snob, which I'm not. When things drag on, I just use that time to do bathroom type things, as i do with 2 songs on the trot. I always boil the kettle when a song is on, or I might miss the chit chat.

I'm not going to get arsey....only 2 more days to go, and I'll probably have a tear at the end.

You can't please all the people all the time.............

In fact a separate thread labelled "What did you not like in the CMS" might have been a better discussion starter.

You've moved your own boundaries to suit then. You said 'hint' of liking it. They said 'used to listen and was ok..,jingles ok'. That's good enough 'hint of liking' to me, and their post demonstrates a balanced view of you re read it, rather than your subjective personal opinion in one particular favour.

It's slightly cringey you thinking 'few of us get it before the majority'. How do you know that ? It's pretty straight forward jokes/banters/features in terms of intellectual target

No one said anything that resembles that. 'living in north Korea' would be different to 'running north korea'? They're clearly clapping when 'dear leader' or whatever theyre now called there, moves

Sadly I think you are swaying my deccision :-) . I will cling to this though:
If he used to like the show why not have joined then instead of waiting till after you've lost interest in listening and grown bored of the show?

Not at all, it's like taking kids to a pantomime, darker underlying jokes for the adults, and skim across the surface cracker type jokes for the children.

Not a derogatory comment at all, just a well know fact that some seek the punchline before it happens by lateral thinking, others wait for the punchline to find them (and still 40% miss it).

Hi,
My first post so be gentle.
I know I'm a bit late to the party just joining, But as a long time listener since the afternoon shows.
I just wanted to say a big fan of the show I'm dreading Friday at 10, I miss the show when they go on holiday 2 weeks so when Monday comes and there's no more Chris and the team god knows how going to cope.
The last two weeks has been brilliant some great blasts from the past but also very emotional, which I keep thinking is odd as its only a radio show, but the show seems to have been there at some big moments in my life over the years which I won't bore you with.
Anyway just wanted to post here and say thanks to Chris and the team past and present for the Breakfast and the afternoon shows it's always been highlight of Radio 1 and radio in general for me and I think there's going to be a big Chris shaped hole left at radio 1 when its gone.
Good luck to Chris and the team in whatever they end up moving on to in the future.
I'll leave it at
Thanks.

Nice post jimafc, and welcome.

You, and a load more of us don't know what to listen to next.

I'm waiting to see the R1 figures plummet, and new boy in charge of R1 (can't remember the name - he is not worthy of taking up my brain-space) will get his arse slapped big time :D :D :D

He mustn't be happy unless he ruins someone's day. He doesn't realize he is in the minority. Go do everyone a favor, go to a Justin Bieber fan site and slag him off. There you can try to ruin many more peoples' day than here.

Thank you very much for this link! Wow, a great story. Too many interesting remarks in the story to comment on, so I will focus on this one -

Just as Peppa Pig magazine is not staffed by three-year-olds, so Moyles has appealed to a surprisingly broad range of Radio 1 listeners. In the same way that Simon Cowell (51) is held in such high regard by a generation of hard-to-please teens unimpressed by the often moronic whooping of youth TV presenters, so Moyles has engaged younger listeners.

I did like that photo from the studio. There was one tweeted on the BBCR1 Twitter and the collective team account from the theater this morning that I really liked.

I'm sorry something in my post made you think I was trying to ruin anyone's day. But I'm glad other people on this thread aren't as bigoted as you and just accept that I have my own opinion that's as valid as anyone else's.

Just for the record, I don't dislike Moyles or his show. I did once listen to him on the drive to work every day for a few months but picked another radio station when it felt a bit samey. All I'm really saying is, Moyles has had his day and I'm looking forward to something different.

I wish the best to Moyles, his crew and all the fans on the forum. I'll certainly tune in tommorow for his last ever show.

Long time lurker on these forums, but this is my first post – and probably my last to be fair. I haven’t listened from the start; I only became a regular listener from around 2006, thanks to the introduction of a DAB Radio as my alarm clock! – And it didn’t take me long to become glued like the rest of you.

What I have always loved about it is the open and personal format of the show, it sounds like they’re chatting to you as regular mates down the pub. I usually sit back in my bed from 6:30 and just listen to them, just as if they’re in my room talking to me. I can’t think of another radio show that has that sort of effect, the team chemistry is unique.

I still see the lazy comments from individuals and some journalists – ‘’Motor mouth DJ is going’’ ‘’Great – we can hear some music”. But they’re comments made by people who haven’t listened, and who simply don’t get it. It’s exactly how Chris Moyles put it in his leaving announcement ‘’to the people who think it’s sad – it’s only a radio show - you don’t get it’’.

If you love the medium of Radio, which I do and all of you lot do, then you can appreciate what a tremendous broadcaster he is. He’s got an amazing ability to hold a show to an audience of 8m people, but still make it feel personal. His technical ability on the desk is second to none, you see a lot of DJ’s getting their producers to press the buttons – but Chris is probably better than most producers at driving the gear.

So, we’re not only losing a great format and a great team – but we’re losing one of, if not the best, broadcasting talents in the country and our radio’s will be a pretty quiet place whilst he’s not around, that’s for sure.

But I understand why it’s happening, and I totally get what Ben Cooper and R1 are doing. Radio 1 needs to hit its format, which is a youth driven station supporting new artists and bands. The reality is that Chris Moyles and the format of that show doesn’t fit anymore. Be honest, how many of you lot see the music in the Chris Moyles show as an interval? A period to get up and get ready for work? I know I do!

But that’s not what Radio 1 want; they need to be seen as a station which is promoting and championing music and new talent, which is what Grimshaw will offer. It’s a completely different format, but a format that hits all the buttons for R1 and their targets.

With the changing face of Radio 1, and their need to keep up with their demographic it was inevitable and I’ve felt it’s been imminent for a good 6 months now. But I’ll never forget it, it’s been part of my life for the last 6 and a bit years and like most, I’ve had so many ups and downs during that time - but this show has always given me a smile during the times when things haven’t been too great personally.

So, thanks to all the team for providing one of the best radio shows that has graced the medium in my lifetime.

Now…what the hell do I wake up to??

Nice post radiofan1, as for the bits in bold, yep that's definitely me, I have a noisy kettle and will only boil it when a record is on, and nip out for a smoke.

I only actually talk to my husband when there's music playing in the morning, as I don't want to miss the chat.

2 tunes on the trot = go into the bathroom and do the pre-work necessaries. it is possible to have a shower in 2 minutes!

The music is half the reason I started listening to the second half of the show on the iPlayer and not live, I can skip straight past it to the good stuff! I also do the same with the sport news (sorry Tina)!

Totallt agree - great article, probably one of the best ever written about Moyles. Really like the guy who writes it anyway - he runs Popjustice which is imo THE authority on all things popular music in this country. Worth reading if you like that sort of thing
