They are easy to deal with because they just do their own preprogrammed thing. You might as well get a goldfish. There's no interaction.

With a dog, what you put in is what you get out.

Hmmm - that's not true in my experience, but cats aren't everyone's thing. I do love dogs, but I don't like dog-owning. Or at least I don't like it when me and the Mr are both working full time, it doesn't work. If you're going to really get the best out of having a dog you need to be able to give it more time than we can at the moment. My current cat is nice, and there is certainly plenty of interaction as you call it - but my old cat was a fantastic companion for 16 years. I still miss him.

I have a dog, and I have had about 30 kittens in the last few years.

The cats don't come in the house, and the kittens are given away. Generally they are self sufficient animals who kill mice and rabbits. I won't have them in the house as they once ate a steak that was out defrosting.

The dog smells so stays in the Porch. The dog is pretty dumb, does not know when it has eaten enough, but does do what it is told.

So You're all right, but it is like saying you might as well get a "wife" as a cat, as the argument about it not doing what it's told is just as pertanent as your goldfish example.

Personally, having had pigs I think they are the best pets, a cat looks down on you, a dog looks up to you, a pig can look you straight in the eye! Plus after 6 months you can eat them.

Topher wrote:No, dogs smell and that is a fact. You people are all saying that you can't smell a dog when you are more than likely round them a lot. I used to have dogs and I couldn't smell dog houses, but now I can. I do not believe anyone who says their house doesn't smell, UNLESS the dog lives outside.

Come and smell my house and tell me I am wrong !!

To be honest, you sound a bit scary, so I reckon I'll just stick to not believing you. But thanks for the offer.
