So what happened to Chris' appearance on the new series of Who Do You Think You Are? He mentioned he did the filming and voice over work for his episode but it looks to have been dropped. 8O

I have only seen about three of these, they were quite fun. I especially enjoyed Kevin Whatley's squirming embarrassment at his Working Class Lad Made Good image being blown wide open, first by his recent ultra-Middle Class family life being revealed ("Ah'm joost a workin' class kid from the North East, me" - no you aren't, you are a middle class public schoolboy from Surrey) and in earlier times the revelation that his ancestors were extraordinarily wealthy and important throughout the Empire, with fortunes made from the Slave Trade. I am looking forward to the next series, I'm going to try to make a point of watching them all.

I really like this series, but that's probably to do with the fact that my dad runs a family history research business...

Can't watch it personally. CM's Auschwitz comment just about summed it up for me. Plus I loathed history at school and can't stand watching celebrities overemote. Always reminds me of contestants blubbing on X Factor VTs. All in all, I don't think I'm really their target audience!

How can one have a business out of it. Do people pay him to do all the legwork for them or something? My mum's got her family tree and mine going back to the early 1700's records are hard to come by before that.

I haven't seen any tears or tantrums yet, I agree with you though, it would be a big turn off for me too.

Yeah, basically. I'm not an expert on how it works (I tend to get a bit bored and stop paying attention after 10mins), but they just tell him what they know about the family line they want tracing and he goes from there. He does research that's charged by the hour or he offers packages including family tree printouts, reports and stuff like that. It's not successful enough to live on, but he does get a lot of work, more than he has time for usually.

Boris Johnsons was amazing, his family history is something special.

Related to royalty on one side,on the other his great grandad stood up to the Turkish government, was a member of some organisation that got caught trying to overthrow the government and was sentenced to death, only to escape on the day of the hanging. They got him in he end and he was excecuted, but it's a good story.
