Wow, bradcali, just speculating? And they say you can't teach an old dog new tricks.......

there are a lot of older specialist DJs like Steve Lamacq who have been around a very long time on radio one who need tobe pensioned off to make way for younger talent so expect the axe to be wielded big time next week! I have a feeling that Trevor Nelson will be among them.Tim Westwood will probably survive but his tuesday show might get the axe.Theres speculation that Judge Jules will be axed too.Pete Tong may finally decide its time to move on as well

It's a shame that it's mainly the older DJ's who have a more open minded approach to music, all these new lot seem to have one genre in mind and stick to it. While i'm not the biggest Jo Whiley fan, she does have a varied taste in music. Annie Mac will be pretty much the last one left, but she's stuck presenting Switch and her friday night show. She should have got Jo's show, not Fearne.

Need? NEED?!?!?!?

There's no need about it why do they need to be * pensioned off???? I'm only 26 but I get really pissed off with fellow "youngsters" who think anyone over 40 is an old fart that doesn't know a decent tune.

Again - John Peel was 65 when he died and would likely still be on Radio 1 if he was alive. Annie Nightingale is is 67 and still going strong. Tim Westwood, who was mentioned as someone who will 'probably survive' is 51. Then again, 'Bradcali' needs to be ignored.

as I predicted the new specialist line up for rADIO ONE WAS ANNOUNCED TODAY http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressr ... dio1.shtml
ONE OF THE Biggest beneficiaries is Tim Westwood, who moves to radio one extra to present their drivetime show monday to friday

Steve Lamacq, Bobby Friction and Chris Goldfinger are all leaving radio one.Westwoods tuesday show is axed and saturday show reduced to 2 hours,Pete Tong is demoted to 9-11 on fridays ,and loses his thursday show, with Annie Mac now starting the weekend at 7pm on fridays. The end of an era there.Tongy has officially started the weekend on radioone since 1991 !Theres a new show for Mistajam on sat nights at 11.Seani B joins the stattion to present the Mixtape show.Rob Da Bank replaces Annie Nightingale ons at mornings and Nihal is on tuesdays 9-10 as well as midnight to 2 .There are other changes but nothing too drastic. All the changes take effect on sep 21

they did! on tuesdays anyway-Westwood is down from 5 hours a week to 2 hours a week on radio one so u should be happy.although he is on radioone extra 15 hours a week!
As I predicted all the oldies like Lamacq Tong Westwood and Goldfinger have either been axed or their hours cut.Its a pretty bold move by the radio one bosses, proving theres no sacred cows they wont slaughter in their pursuit of younger listeners!Annie Mac is now officially the top dance dj on radio one.congrats to her!

What about Annie Nightingale?
#394718
she has been demoted to the monday 2-4 graveyard slot.(therefore removing her from the 12 hour friday night dance segment)axing Annie Nightingale was never an option, esp since the death of John Peel. She'll be there till she dies!

Radio 1 is really becoming the 14 year old's station of choice isn't it?

YUP-the only 'up and coming' DJ who's not had a promotionis Reggie Yates-they m ust be keeping him for breakfast...

Ah well that won't be for a long time then seeing as Moyles has signed up until 2010

I have one major gripe about the new schedule-theyre replacing Rob da Banks 4 hour segment on sunday n ights with repeats of the previous weeks 9-10pm shows.Thats just a waste of 4 hours when we can listen agaion on iplayer.I hope this is just a temporary measure till they get some n ew shows/DJs to fill it

Yeah but Im pretty certain Chris wont renew the breakfast show contract beyond next july.Even if the BBC let him, you can tell he's getting pretty sick of the early rises now.
