A few words to describe Ms Dynamite:

Talentless
Hypocritical
Tedious
Tuneless

I don't know where this has suddenly come from people wanking off over Ms Dynamite - just on the back of 2 poor singles. I suppose it's because we havn't got any other female singers and people think she is the best of a bad bunch. I'm just M+L Fan tee hee - I rest my case m'lud.

Actually a couple of observations about the MOBOs; first of all what is so urban about the Sugababes?? I think the organisers realised they are a kiddie pop band too late so they had some guy shouting incomprehensibly into a microphone over their beautifully on-key performance of Round, round.
The second observation is about some award they had for the best un-signed band or something. I nearly peed myself laughing, it was one of the funniest things I have seen in a while.
The first one was a woman with a funny hat pulled halfway over her face.
The second one was some prancing boy-band - but as all the members were black, they qualified for the MOBOs. Weird.
Third one was some time-warped soul singer in ridiculously tight trousers.
And the other two were the usual sort of rubbish; excessive arms flailing about and yelling 'yow! yow!' into the microphone. Very funny.

ms dynamite has a great album full of actual tracks and not filler tracks like so many bands today. ms dynamite is somewhat different that most of what is about today and some ppl just dont like change it seems.

she is a great rapper, and an OK singer. she has a talent and is using it...more than can be said for some

Howz that weird? Its the Music of Black Origin, so it doesnt necessarily have to be urban-ish I guess.

heres where my problem lies. lets treat it as a chain.

Oasis (white) take their inspiration from the Beatles (white)
Beatles (white) said without Elvis (white) there would be no Beatles
Elvis got the majority of songs from Black soul standards.

so in theory every song in the charts has black origin.

I do like Black peoples music. I like an entire range of any type of music. I like, Alicia Keys, Destinys child, Ms dynamite (so what if i get slagged off about it, her songs are catchy, i know it might not be to all of your tastes...) and quite a few black artists. To me, it doesnt matter what race they are, its just the songs themselves.

When did I state that? I don't remember ever slating any black music genre. So I can't criticize music when it's sung by black people? you've got to realise that most, and I stress most, mainstream hip-hop and R'n'B is tired, lyrically devoid of any content and self-serving. What on earth can be gained musically about how many women so and so has, or how many fast cars whatshisface has.
your all into not good blink 182 and pudd of shi-t-e.

Again; when did I state that? I find Blink 182 juvenile, and Puddle of Mudd rather formulaic for my tastes.

It's the music of black origin awards. Hence Daniel Bedingfield and Tim Westwood amongst others were up for an award because they are involved in black music. So just because a boy-band is all black does not qualify, as pop is not defined as a black genre.(Although I have to agree with Uglybob on this one).
The reasons I dislike Ms Dynamite are as follows:
1( She wins the Mercury Music prize; and she writes songs with lyrics such as: 'Macaroni, chicken, peas and pineapple punch'.
2( Apparently she takes a strong stance against violence and tries to put it through in her music; yet, she featured So Solid Crew's single that opens 'I'm going to have to resort to violence'. And of course So Solid Crew are not associated with violence at all.
3( Although this one is not her fault. She has been taken up by the patronising broadsheet media as this months 'let's have an article on her every day for a week' policy.
And maybe I was a bit harsh in saying she was talentless, as I did quite like her first song with Sticky.
And all that withstanding I wouldn't mind a dabble either...

cant say i like her music particularly but i would rather have an artist who is clearly up there for musical reasons rather than most of the crap.

I think Adam was silly throwing the race card in to the conversation when i can remember M+L fan starting a topic a year ago saying that Jay Z-izzo was the best single of the year, assumtion is the mother of all f*ck ups. I don't mind Ms Dynamite but i agree with M+L fan that commercial HipHop and R+B is tired and Ms Dynamite is apparently the best we have and she is a hypocrite, It takes more was a song about the image that The Sosolid crew portray but that didn't stop her working with them. The Mobo awards are a farce really because some of nominees were stupid, i think Ja Rule won best rapper when Eminem out sold him and easily is a better rapper, and Ashanti is a poor mans Aaliyah(with side burns), Alisha Keys is a genuine talent who make brilliant music and i losing awards to a bad singing munter with sideburns.

Where was Outkast, Nas and Dialated peoples. Pah.

Here my shortlist for next years Best rapper at the mobos
1: Ja Rule
2: Will Smith
3: Shaggy
4: The rapper from baha men
5: Bomfunk Mcs
6: Abs
7: Dr Evil

How can you remember that?? I do remember saying that - and I do think it is one of the best songs of the year; great song to get you out of bed in the morning. Sampling a Jackson 5 classic.

I just think that we are all intelligent enough to realise that someones race, gender, sexuality, nationality, eye colour, hair colour etc. doesn't make any difference. We are all human beings, and it is the actions we take that judge us - not who or what we are. So I find the MOBOs discriminatory and offensive. There might be a shred of reason for it if for example black people were being marginalized or discriminated against in music. But as roughly 2% of people in the UK are black, I think that there is more than 1 in 50 records in the charts that are by black British artists. Just because the people who happened to invent hip-hop, R'n'B, garage, reggae etc. were all black doesn't have anything to do with it. Fair enough have Hip-hop awards or reggae awards, but don't have racist awards because the person who invented each genre had a particular skin colour.
