The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Think there was probably a thread a while back about this but just wanted to bring it up again. Not sure if I am the only one but is anyone else on here getting really tired of McFlyDay every week? Like I didn't mind it at first but the darn thing has been going since February or March this year and has become a reason why I think the Friday shows are the worst of the week. How did it start anyway? Was it a text by someone requesting it or what since I am just a bit annoyed at that person for bringing it up in the first place. The song is decent enough but when you hear it enough times it starts to become annoying and you end up hating it. That has happened this year with me on a few songs. Can call me grumpy over it but its one of the few things that just gets on my nerves on the show. Then agaIn, they have certain songs on the playlist play every day like David Guetta (who sucks since his songs sound the same) so it ain't as bad as that now.

Celebrity Raspberry I didn't care for when it started but it has grown on me but would still prefer Where Am I or something else there in that slot and hopefully that is the case come 2011.

Anyway have a Merry Christmas and a happy new year.

I get the feeling Aled is tired of it as well, today was another time where he gently tried to steer Chris away from it without saying it explicitly. Chris ignored him, of course. I'm tired of it as well, I listen again to the show most days and immediately skip it without exception. You're right, it's just a half-decent song which has been way, way overplayed.

Chris is sure to read this and be pissed off at another chrismoyles.net rant, so I'll point out the shows are otherwise excellent, it's been another great year. I loved the retro Run DMC feature today, with the obligatory "heinous" rhyme. :) Now that never gets old.

Just be sure to make a post bout how much we miss it, once it has gone...

I'm indifferent, it's a nice surprise when you forget it's coming listening live, but as with most songs I skip past on iPlayer.

On it's own it probably wouldnt bother me, but with it being on Friday with the pointless Golden Hour it just feels too much.

Golden Shower and McWhy day. But I still listen, it's a labour of love, we as fans have learnt this. Familiarity is what the show does best, but that wears thin when they incorporate it into features. We dont mind the old faves such as CPC and Rob DJ, as they flow with the banter. But Friday features steam-roll their way through, I think thats why with it being the end of the year, people are hoping for something new, hell - even a tweak here and there would be nice. So I do see where you're coming from on this.

Wow, you're harsh on the show! The show has to be consistent, most people aren't fans on a site analysing everything and a lot of work goes into even the smallest feature. If it's a 'labour' to listen, then why listen? Just enjoy it as it's meant to be enjoyed.

It started when Chris heard it and realised how good it was. And i still love the feature.

Who cares what 'most people' think? We are fans, not people who tune in for a bit of background noise, or something to occupy them on the way to work. Most people on here care about the show and want its features to work.

I dont think 'enjoying it as it's meant to be enjoyed' is really an option if you genuinly dont like that feature.

Tbh out of a 3 and a half hour show why does it matter if there are a couple of features you don't like? The show is made to be listened live in the morning while getting ready for work or school so a crap feature gives people time to jump in the shower or something. And I'm sure there are many people out there who do really like some of these features.

But it's a message board and we discuss the show and its features- good and bad.

Exactly, it is the breakfast show for Radio 1 and it functions as that. Yes, it's The Chris Moyles Show, but you can't expect to like every feature or every minute as it's for a wide audience and structured as such. There are some bits which I can turn it down for but for the most part enjoy the whole thing. Features like Tedious I'm not fussed on, but I don't feel it my duty to struggle through and listen. I enjoy the show for what it is, a breakfast show and it works great as one, from the opening link which is easy to wake up to, to the funnier games and features later on.

McFlyDay is still very popular. Chris often mentions all the texts about it if he forgets or it's late.

But you can't keep recycling 90's hits forever.

But main thing is, poster was wise enough to say all that at the beginning of holidays.

Merry Christmas.

Nice to see some mixed opinions on here anyway. What Travis Bickle said is what I am inclined to go with since I ain't a fan of the Golden Hour because its the same years over again due to some nothing before 90s policy, which I think is stupid since I think some 80s music and before are way better than some music you hear nowadays. Honestly, I only listen to some of the Friday show live due to working but would never listen to the full show back just because an hour is dedicated to music etc. I like the other days really anyway since they have their fill of good banter and good features while Fridays just fall flat to me.

I have a feeling this will be coming back in the New Year and be with us every Friday and the occasional Thursday when they're off Friday so guess we have to take it upon the chin. Just would prefer it if it was more occasional as opposed to every week.

It's not a huge feature though is it? It's a song and they play loads of crappy songs so why get so wound up about one more. At least it isn't off the playlist.

I know where you're coming from now with that statement but a reason why is just annoys me is the over saturation they seem to have with it in that they get texts from people saying when is mcfly day happening and also saying they never get tired of hearing it every Friday and just a few other bits and pieces. There are songs out there that I feel that way about anyway in that I love them no matter how many times I listen to it. I don't hate the song now since its not as played out as say Dog Days Are Over by Florence & The Machine which has been played to death not only on Radio 1 but other stations as well and like I said in my first post, this is an example of a song I liked at first but now hate due to being overplayed.

I reckon going with this for so long shows a grave lack of fresh ideas on the show. It was ok the first time. Can't say it bothers me as I frequently skip past or turn the volume down when the music comes on.

Its less than 5 minutes of a 3 and a half hour show. That's just over 2% of the show. That's hardly showing a lack of new ideas as the other 98% of the show is new stuff except the music which has to be played otherwise it would not be FM Radio.

Actually, over a 17 and a half hours of the show in a week, it's less than half of one percent.

People who have bad taste in music, that's who! :P Can't stand that song myself so most songs are better than that. It sounds like Ke$ha also, which is a con.
