Just wondering when the show returns, will there be a new set of Jingles for 2011?
Dont get me wrong, I like the "Movie" themed Jingles, but they are getting a bit tiring now, seeing as its the only jingle and bed that they have had all year. Unlike other years when they had other jingles and beds.
And will we hear "International Radio 1" on the jingles?
Just be nice for them to return sounding new and such for 2011! Doesn't seem long since we were talking bout the show returning early this year, the year has gone scarily quick!

I've asked him, but I'm not too sure if they will be a sung package or a generic package, like the rest of the station.

Haha, not so inside really - I've worked on a few projects with Richard (who sings them). I don't really post on here, despite having an account since 2005, but thought I'd better provide the answer!

Couldn't agree more. The "Movie" jingles were alright, but using them allll the tiiiiiiimme was a bit overkill. Now I hate them.

I rather like the Jazz and retro ones.

Big blagger says there will be new ones? Sweeeeeeet. That's good. I must ask though, new music or just new vocals for the old ones?

Doubt it, didn't Radio 1 management rule just over a year ago that all imaging had to now be "BBC Radio 1"?

Yes, in June 2009, Music4 completed a full revoice of the station, i.e. 'BBC Radio 1'. There were also trial sweepers that aired early in 2009, before the complete revoice.

As long as the cheesy song and bed, and the closing jingle stay the same, I'm happy (god that was an awful couple of days early last year when the closing jingle changed)

mind, I wish he'd switch back to different cheesy songs for each days. I miss the random shout out to jeff stelling and other stuff like that.

I would have thought so, yes. I'm hoping for some more of Roy Walker's sublime singing as well! :)

'BBC Radio 1' continued to be used for 2011.

I don't know if this is true but I read somewhere that because Chris writes the majority of the jingles he receives PRS money for every play of them. Does that seem likely?

Yep, 'BBC Radio 1' will be continued into 2011, and some new newsbeat imaging.

Check out some brand new R1 audio at:

I think Newsbeat jingles are in need of a bit of a overhaul, though I do believe that the current "Digital-FM-Online" Newsbeat jingles have been the best.
I'm a bit of a geek when it comes to new Jingles, intro's, logo's as such.... So I'm glad to hear of some new Jingles for the show........... Roll on 6:30am Monday morning......

Same here! I have a massive collection, such as the entire Pure Tonic package, and dry/wet IDs from Music4, full Newsbeat packages ect.

The current newsbeat package has been on air since January 2009. New stuff is normally introduced at weekends, so maybe next weekend?

The new News package was commissioned back in the summer, see this page:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/commissioning/radi ... t_2010.pdf

It is a much smaller package than 2007/2009. 2007/2009 consisted of

2009

- x5 Demos/Draft Mixes
- x5 News Ins
- x10 News Beds
- x1 Sport Bed
- x1 Weather Bed
- x5 News Outs
- x10 Logo Stabs/FX ect
- x3 Entertainment News Beds.

2007 was pretty much the same.

Also, the voiced versions are seperate, as they are created in-house at Radio 1.

I know I'll be hated but I think the cheesy song is utter pants, I get up at 6.30, hear the end of the news, the song starts I switch off for the duration and switch on when I think its finished, at that time of morning I'm very grumpy and find that tune enough to want to smash my radio, so simply swith it off until finished, I just don't like it.

No new jingles for this year, just minor revoices/usual updates. I'm sure this has something to do with Pure Tonic having the R1 contract, not Music4.

I'm waiting for Gordon Smart (enjoyed Chris' mention this morning) to write a story that it's because R1 won't be renewing Moyles' contract (on Breakfast at least) so don't want to spend money on jingles for only 6 months of show!

But hasn't he been on a one year contract for about the last 3 years so therefore only having 6 months left on his contract at this time every year.
