So he is a young professional with a shining future, throws it all away through abuse of drugs and alcohol, ends up homeless and is now famous and wealthy and (hopefully) set for life through sheer dumb luck. I suppose I can see the similarity to Susan Boyle in the "career made through a lucky break" aspect of this, but if I were SuBo I think I'd be a bit miffed this guy's story was being compared to mine!

Americans love stories like this. The went ape-shit for Susan Boyle. Ok she has a good voice but it was the fact that she looked like an ugly man in a dress then sang like an angel that got her as far as she`s got.

I don't think the huff post story is ridiculous, I think the whole story itself is ridiculous. Linking to that was to show how much more it has become.

I dont like her either but thats wot Cowell and co said about her at the time. The fact she was ugly and not right in the head was the main selling point.

I'm guessing that must have been it too, because beyond being able to hold a tune and having an average range, she hasn't got a lot vocally. She isn't awful, there are a lot worse out there, but she is a long way from having a great voice. Good luck to her though, I certainly don't begrudge her the success she is having, and I also hope that she can handle it all emotionally.

This guy has been offered a house by a basketball team and is also going to be the voice of a ad campaign for some Kraft food in the US...I think it was rice. Anyway, that's the latest It shows the power of the Internet, at least. It got noticed.

It does show the power of the internet, and whilst its a positive result (so far) for this man, I think it demonstrates that the power of the internet is disproportionately great. Or maybe I'm just an old fogey. Yeah, that'll be it.
