So glad last week is over, I had to switch between Atlantic FM and Radio Devon & Cornwall.

I know I am Old, but that was the shittest week of Radio EVA'

I went nowhere near the radio last week, used memory sticks in the car and re-listened to the 'best of Moyles' from new years day on iPlayer in the office. Nothing against Zane, but I don't like him doing breakfast, ditto Huw Stephens on drive home.

 The only Greatest Hits Albums of any importance are Greatest Hits 1 & 2, 3 is OK if you want the solo stuff & singles that didn't make it the GH 2 (Made In Heaven's singles, Princes Of The Universe, These Are The Days Of Our Lives, Las Palabras De Amor & Thank God It's Christmas). Queen Rocks (now out of print) is good for lesser know songs such as Put Out The Fire, I'm In Love With My Car & I Can't Live With You '97, any other is needed.

You're best to stick with the albums otherwise, and if you only get one live album get Live At Wembley '86, an absolute gem & a wonderful listen :)

I dream of the day Moyles is on with Zane's playlist but that will never happen.Everyone's different aren't they.

That would be great if that happened. But he has to play the playlist music, probably because of the time of day and they plan the new stuff from 7pm onwards.

Moyles clearly wasnt a fan either. Yesterday he likened Zane covering breakfast to like listening to Capital, and today, when explaining the low number of texters said "they all stopped listening when Zane was on". That seemed a bit harsh to me, even acknowledging Moyles's humour.

Maybe :( It's a shame because I think he's quite good. Just a matter of opinion I suppose.

Zane is a great presenter and brilliant at what he does, that's why he cleans up at the awards every year.
However, no one should be that enthusiastic and have that much energy in the morning, it's just plain wrong!

Here's my two pence, although I am pleased that Zane Lowe plays a lot of new music that isn't on the playlist the show didn't translate to well to breakfast, it was just too loud & adrenaline packed for that time of the day. However I'm getting really pissed off with Radio 1's limited playlist, other stations play current songs & mix in a few classic, I hardly think loads of kids will suddenly turn off because a song before 2005 get's played.

Radio 1 even as late as 1999 was playing a much wider ranger of music than it does now, it's just far too limited because the management there these days have a one track * mind, they seem to think the majority of the audience won't listen to stuff over 2 years old. In all honesty I could see Radio 1 loose quite a large percentage of listeners once Moyles goes, all I know is once he's gone so am I, with the exception of Coxy I really can't be asked with the rest any more, 6 Music will be who I'll be listening to in the morning once he leaves.

I think you're spot on since it seems that the playlist seems to be reduced or somewhat and the same songs are played over again on the show but just in a different order. That's one of the reasons why I like listening to Colin Murray on Friday Nights as they are various songs he plays even though he might play a song he only played a month back but nowhere near as bad as Radio 1.

I didn't listen to Zane at all when he was in even though the playlist he had was probably a nice change anyway from the usual guff that happens that time of the morning even if it might have been a bit too loud but I would have been working at the time when he was on ready to go home.

Just wish they would reduce the amount of times certain songs are played because I am sure there are lots of people out there beyond these forums that are sick and tired of the songs been played again and again. Anything from Rhianna comes to mind.

Darro M & Johnny 1989 I totally agree, Radio 1 is currently playing utter crap. Did anyone see the fact that in 2010 only 3 rock bands made it into the top 20, the first time since 1960!!!! True Zane was wrong for breakfast, however at least the music was better more instrument based bands which Radio 1 is hardly playing now, in a way I think Radio 1 is killing music :(

Can't agree with that. R1 tend to play whatever is poplular at the time. Dub step has only recently made into onto the airwaves more, as its popularity has grown. Wind the clock back nearly 20 years to the 'brit pop' era, R1 pretty much used to ONLY play guitar type music. I totally agree R1 can play songs too frequently, but I understand why they play what they do. They are there to play new releases of the most popular acts and introduce us to new artists, based on what is selling well at the time.

Mainstream music has always killed music.

People who are 'into' their music are generally 6-12 months ahead of the curve, by the time it's hit Radio 1, it's an already heavily jumped bandwagon that gets jumped on by everyone else.

I'm quite happy to be spoon fed the new 'cool' stuff now, trying to keep up is far too much like hard work :) but if you want new, good music - go and watch some live stuff / some electro gigs from people you've never heard of.

But, but but, I like music, Zane is the best technical DJ there is, but they all play one great song then 3 shit noisey, beat beat beat, just shut the * up tracks.

New music by it's very nature has to be like this, you have to kiss allot of frogs, and Zane etc filter the Wheat from the Chaff. It is just wrong that they think they can completely change the style of music for a whole week without affecting the audience. No other commercial station would treat there audience with such distain.

" Yeah, we know you like the nomal stuff, but we can't get the big names in to work, so we'll use the B list, and to keep them happy we'll let them play what they normally play so that if 1% of you like it, then you will listen to there shows in the future, oh and you other 99% you are all shit, and you should like great new music as well."

Here's how I see it: Both Chris and Zane have a hit and miss rate. They're a bit like waves - peaks and troughs. The thing is, zanes peak's can be higher than chris', but zane's lows can be be really * low. I'd prefer more of a mix to the playlist - 50% current chart etc and 50% mix (new genre music and modern classics (not playlisted, but more of a freedom to play))

Although if it was up to me, I'd make 1 xtra a multi genre station - i.e. make the day time line up similar to the night line up on radio 1.

Yeah, that might end up proving more popular if that actually happened.

Sat and today are up
