This is gonna sound really really sad, but with the show ending I've been thinking about the different ways Chris and the team has affected my life.

Only small things but these are all thanks to Chris!

When making a decision about weather to buy a PS3 or a Xbox I chose the Xbox just because Chris banged on about how good they are.

I joined twitter in 2009, just because Chris wouldn't stop talking about it, and still to this day I'm addicted to it!

I got the Jamie Oliver cook book and now am a very decent cook thanks to it, I couldn't even fry an egg before.

I now regularly drink Becks Vier because Chris mentioned how nice it is. (he was right!)

I bought a Walkman with a radio on it, just do I could listen to the afternoon show on the way home from school

I bought a Zoo York t-shirt because Chris mentioned that they were "trendy"

Writing all this down makes me realise what a saddo I am!

You bought a Walkman to listen to him? I didn't know Chris was on R1 during the 1980s. :-P Sorry, couldn't resist! I don't think it's sad, and you've got me thinking about my own list now. All that comes to mind at the moment is getting into 'Life on Mars' and 'Ashes to Ashes', which are not the kind of shows I'd usually ever watch or have any interest in, because Chris kept mentioning how good they were on air, and absolutely loving them (I now own both box sets), trying a woo-woo due to Aled's love of them (was not overly impressed), and buying various tv themes on itunes because Chris had played them and I couldn't get them out of my head. And I know there must be lots of other little ways my life has been influenced by listening to the show every morning over the last eight and a bit years.

Like the TC I now use Twitter because of the show.

Once he's gone, My ps3 will finally have some space left on its hard drive because I will no longer be religiously recording every show every day.

This is the sort of stuff I'd like people who are contributing to the tribute book to save for that, to be honest! I'm worried if it gets posted here where Aled or other team members might read it, it won't have the same impact.

I openly admit, although signing up to here today, i've been browsing off and on for years

In fact I can attribute listening to Chris for the vast majority of my working life (I am now 31).

I honestly shed a tear when I heard Chris' announcement, although usually I wouldn't be listening at that point in the day (normally I'm at work anytime between 7.30 and 8am)

I honestly cannot imagine travelling to work listening to anyone else, will be a difficult decision come september time

One of my favourite moments was the emergency tape chicken game

Is there a way for us overseas listeners to send messages to be included in the tribute book, perhaps email a message to someone to get handwritten or printed and pasted in it?

Right ok here goes,

I don't know if many people feel the same as I do right now but it's worth a go, so here goes.

I first started listening to chris many years ago when I started a job in town (st Helen's) that was boring as hell. We had no radio and tv and one day I brought a clapt out old radio in to liven the place up. We station hopped for a while until we came across chris in the afternoons and we thought radio1, no adverts, perfect!!

My memories of that time were wills music and especially the listeners hat sent in the PPK remix!

I changed jobs and found myself waking up too early for my liking, it was then in 2004 that chris landed the breakfast show. Perfect for me. I have been listening regularly ever since then and when the announcement came this week I felt knumb. I was driving into work, got my paper from the shop and heard chris and aled talking about who was going to say their big announcement first. The news and sport followed and I pulled up at work turned off my engine but something made me stop and just say keep on listening.

It was then I heard chris say he was going to make his announcement and the music started playing. I knew instantly what he was going to say and I'm not ashamed to say it that I welled up almost instantly.
As chris made his announcement I thought I need go home and take this in how can I go in work now?
I sat on my van knumb for a few minutes, composed my self and went in work.

This is where I hope people feel what I do.

I went home and said to the wife "chris moyles is leaving the breakfast show".
She looked at me and said " you must be devastated" not in a sarcastic way but because she knows how much the show means to me.
I have listened to chris Dave Dom and aled and felt like in a strange way even though I have never met them, we are mates. That might sound daft to some but that's how I feel! It's the little things that do it and everytime I play the podcast (free download) back with the announcement I'm not ashamed to say it that I well up.

People get used to routine and I knew the chris moyles breakfast show had to come to an end sometime I just didn't think it would hit me this hard. But as chris expertly put it "for all those who think its just a radio show, "you just don't get it""

I have been a browser of this website for many years but never registered but now I just felt I needed to share my thought. Can someone please tell me when the official final show is as I can't find an exact date is it 31 aug?

If you have took the time to read this then thanks, and if you feel the same please feel free to comment.

I think you'll find that we all "Get it" on here Bolton1312. You are not alone. Wireman2004 is right though. There are other threads along similar lines to what you said.

In ALL due respect, do we need your * narky wee comment.

I mean For * Sake!

The guy spills all his emotions relating to the impending loss of the show and you've resurfaced with your grammatical mind * way of posting and shoot the poor fella down.

PM Nic and ask for a merge if it means so much to you, she likes that sort of thing but don't dare * act the Billy big * again.

Bolton1312, loved your post and feel compelled to say so.

I've merged, yeah. And I would politely ask newbies to consider whether their comment might fit with an existing thread before starting a new one - it's just good forum etiquette. Thankyou :)

I've PMd you, although I forgot to add that if you want to handwrite something you'd probably be best to scan it in and email it me.

I just noticed this tweet from Aled:
"Surgery tonight a section of the show will be dedicated to @ChrisMoylesShow Support Group! Why will we miss a radio show so much? @BBCR1 9pm"
Please tell me such a Support Group exists, I think quite a few of us, especially Nicola, will need to attend. XD
I really do need to start writing the piece I'm sending to you for the book, Nicola, before I go back to work tomorrow...

I don't know what you're trying to say *cough* ;) but this site is the support group, really.

And, no rush on the book thing, I've only had one in so far!

I mean no offence, I'm just saying over the years we've all been so addicted, in three months time I at least won't know what to do with myself!
Only one? Hmm. I would have thought people would be writing all their feelings down. I myself just opened up Notepad and unleashed a torrent of words xD

Just a quick post from me, out here in California.

Since early last year, I've been recording every one of Chris's shows (minus a couple) on Audacity, initially because they begin at 10:30 our time and end just past two. And every morning, I'd split each one and reformat into 3 mp3 files, and put them on my ipod to listen. NOW, I'm so very glad I saved them ALL!

Am completely gutted that the show is over. :( I hope you're right that he'll be on BBC1 in some other way; I can't imagine life without Chris and his team! It is just so very sad. The main way he's affected my life is that the show being so entertaining, I keep listening, and in the process am now kept up to date on the popular music that my kids love! :) And I love it, too!

Thanks to Chris Moyles (and Chris Harris to be fair) I had a child and got married. No exaggeration, those two people have had a massive influence my life and Cat's life and without them I wouldn't have an almost two year old son... so I think we have a reasonable claim to have been most affected by a radio show.

I agree with said comments I have listened every day from day one being a sales rep and my mrs says im being sad. As he says you just don't get it if you dont understand.

I think its a massive mistake by radio 1 and someone should start a petetion to get him back!!!

I will stop listening to radio 1 if this goes through.
