The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Yep, that's what I was going to say. The article says Chris will take over the late bit "when Nick Grimshaw moves on 24 September" and we know that Chris isn't doing any more radio this year.

My theory is that it would'nt start till next year (Based on the fact Chris said 2013 would be the earliest he'd back on the radio) so why start a promotion on that when both he and radio 1 will have stuff to promote before then. I doubt Radio 1 would want to start clogging up the air time promoting a show that won't start for at least another four months.
From Chris' veiw, why would he announce that when he had the final of his dream job to get out the way with.

EDIT:
Plus where's the fun in telling the world what your up to all the time?

The way other DJs have been talking he as left Radio . Scott tweeted earlier saying a tweet he posted before sounded like he was dead but he wasn't he was "leaving after 15 years at Radio 1!"

Interesting! Plus he can't take over when Grimmy starts breakfast he as JCSS and His own tour.

Here's my theory. Leaving the Breakfast Show is a huge deal after so many years.

Leaving the Breakfast Show and immediately going to another lower-profile show in the evening means Chris is not really leaving.

So, do the big "I'm leaving! I've gone!" bit with all the celebrations (and rightly so) means that in 3.2 months time he can come back to R1 with a big fanfare and start the new late night show.

I imagine that's what BBBen was referring to when he said "Chris was going to reinvent himself" -- he's going to do a Late Night Show without all his "Morning Zoo" pals.

I already miss Dave and Dom (and to a lesser extent Tina), but it will be interesting to see how this all pans out.

read near the bottom of the article..

"Now Chris will tour the UK with his King Herod part in Jesus Chris Superstar, then return to BBC Radio 1 to host a new show. Then, in November, he’ll be back on the road with Chris Moyles Live, appearing in theatres around the country offering one last chance to see the team together."

It's a bit like when Terry Wogan made an emotional departure from the Radio 2 breakfast show, then turned up a week later to do a Sunday morning show on the same station.

I don't believe that article is correct - I don't know how the BBC could get something about their own organisation so wrong, but I'll be very surprised if it is correct.

Snap! But I so hope that it is true. This thread got my hopes up but nothing has been confirmed by Chris yet :(

Ok, so BBC News have edited the article at 10.25 to remove the line, but at 9.51 the following article read:
"Chris will move to a late evening timeslot when Nick Grimshaw takes over the breakfast show on 24th September"
(or similar words to that effect, I'm writing it from memory)

Could be a genuine mistake or could have been that they weren't supposed to reveal the information yet.

Lets hope it's the latter!

Sorry to burst in as a newbie. Hello all, been lurking on here for years but has anyone seen this? It appeared on the BBC story about half an hour ago and has been deleted now. Mistake or let the cat out of the bag??

I posted this on another thread as soon as the article went live. I wondered if it was a slipup by the BBC, as it would have been thought that Chris would have made the announcement himself. Where were these announcements? As long as he's on radio, BBC radio, I'm not bothered. He's too big for commerical stations. He's not as appealing for TV. It's BBC radio or overseas IMO. Though going back to lates would somewhat be about 3 steps back (though I hope steps back to make a giant step forward to break r2 audiences). 5live etc aren't big enough.
