Forecast Headline - Possibility of blizzards over the Scottish hills, with snow moving south (Updated 09/11)
Latest indications suggest the weather will turn much colder in the run up to Christmas. High pressure over Greenland will build encouraging a cold northerly airstream to become established for a time over the UK. Conditions look ideal for the development of polar lows and if these do form the possibility of blizzard conditions for the Scottish hills is likely, with snow spreading further to northern parts of England, and possibly even into southern areas.

Its got to be years since you last had snow...
We usually get snow, but its usually worse over the end of January, February time and not Christmas. Which is pretty great when you miss school, just go sledging instead, lol

we have snow once a year in Leeds and it messes everything up when it does so. All it ever does in Leeds is rain..then sunny for a few days then more heavy rain

I remember the year, I got a week off school because of the snow, and five years ago were we were stranded at home, as we couldn't make it about 6 miles up the road, so we had gammon and chips for christmas dinner!

Yeah, but you're about as far north as you can possibly get in this country.

Round these parts it normally snows once either in the last week of the year, or the first week of the new year. The problem is that it snows once - but it's so bloody cold that the sludgy snow stays around for days.

Ugh, sludge.

The last time I remember more than an inch of snowfall around here was more than a decade ago. Of course, I can always drive up to Aberdeenshire any time between December and January and get stuck in a snowdrift. - jc

I like light rain, as long as its not very windy and going straight into your face!
If its heavy, eurrgh! It sounds calming, but argh it can be bitter.

There's nothing better than lying in a nice warm bed and you can hear heavy rain outside. Makes you feel all snug and warm :D
