newsbeat wrote:When are the 2006 shows going to be uploaded? i'll have a look for a few more shows for you

Hopefully over the Christmas period (my brother still won't budge regarding me installing Audacity on his PC), although the 2006 shows may have a problem. For some reason the MD record I was using in 2006 started playing silly buggers & would miss 2-3 seconds of audio at random times when recording.

This was very apparent when I recorded a Jon Holmes show where he managed to get Ken Bruce on the phone to play Kenbrucemaster (a mickey take of Ken Bruce's Popmaster), although it was really funny (with Ken Bruce playing along with the game in good spirits) the MD decided to * up at this point & unfortunately the sound drops out a lot. Sadly I seem to be the only Jon Holmes fan (on here at least) and so I've yet to come across another copy of this sadly.

I shall copy over several of the 2006 shows in December & see if they are listenable or not, I'll let you all know in due course.

timmm wrote:Hey, really this is a great place ... so was it that you recorded these Mark & Lard shows yourself back in the day? Or have you obtained them from the archives of the beeb? I was in my car today listening to them, forgotten how much these pair used to make me laugh! Not had chance to listen to the Moyles shows as of yet, but plenty of time! I don't know how many shows you have in total, but regarding the clips I have - they are from the DVD that was created entitled "MCC" which I would be sure you know about. :)

Unfortunately no, I only ever recorded one Mark & Lard show (October 2001) & unfortunately there are some sound issues with it, the shows have been mostly provided by JamieC21 & DC (with TIAL editing most of JamieC21's shows). I do have several of JamieC21's shows to edit, which if I can convince my brother to allow me to install Audacity on his PC, I may get some of them up before I go to HK (I save copies of them onto a memory stick).

I'll be honest back then I wasn't huge fans of Mark & Lard, however having listened back to these shows provided by JamieC21 & DC, I have to say I have since become a fan, just a bit gutted I didn't record more of them.

As for the DVD entitled "MCC", I'll be honest I'm not aware of it's existence, I have about 150-250 shows in my archive (from 1999-2009, although about 30-40 from 2001 are only the first half unfortunately) although at present I'm mainly concentrating on the tapes as certain brands of cassettes are starting to deteriorate quite quickly (most notably Sky branded ones, where a hissing noise is starting to bleed through on the soundtrack unfortunately).

26th May - Back from a 2 week break. Chris and Dave getting drunk at Chris’ brother’s wedding. Last show before Dom has his baby so many names are suggested. Dave is moving to a little imaginary cottage. Rob DJ's Monday Night Pub Quiz. Carrie vs Dave in the game of Who Am I? Cheggers' Pop Quiz.

27th May - Tulip is in the studio but still no baby news from Dom. In talk about the night before Chris says he sent Dave a photo of himself with his shirt off as Stavros Fattley. Matt Fincham’s complicated love life. Aled says if he had to go out with a girl it would be Sara Cox, and it wouldn’t be Carrie 'cos she’s too butch'. Carrie vs Dave in player not a player. Matt Fincham’s parents speak live on air and they’re all wearing cardigans.

A little treat for you all, for those who missed out on this show this time last year, with special thanks to JamieC21 for this, ever wondered what Chris sounded like when he first started out on radio? Well wonder no more as today's update is of Chris Moyles (referring to himself as Chris Holmes here) on the original Radio Luxembourg. Warning surviving clips of music may take you back to your childhood, you have been warned ;)

Date: Sunday 3rd May 1992

Info: Ever wondered what Chris sounded like pre-Radio 1? Well step back in time to 1992 when Chris Moyles went by the name of Chris Holmes & he was a presenter on Radio Luxembourg, during it's final year "on air" (to be fair the only way you could listen to the station in the UK in 1992 was via satellite. Chris' style here is very different indeed & he sounds very young. Topics up for discussion include the recent death of Benny Hill, Michael Bolton singing for the UK in the 1992 Eurovision Song Contest & Richard Marx's "new" hit Hazard

The 150-200 total is for Moyles shows (although with the Dec 2008>Shows it could be closer to 300-350 now). As for Mark & Lard I only know of about 15-20 of which I got from JamieC21 or DC.

Feel free to share whichever clips you feel people would like to hear from the show again, there's sort of a mini clip collection on the first post anyway so I can add them to there :)

By The Way all, keep your eyes peeled as there will be two extra special treats (courtesy of Jamie C21) up here later today, I can't say much more than that at the mo :)

Here we go then, with a huge thanks to JamieC21 for these two shows, Ladies & Gentlemen, we present to you two shows of Chris Moyles from the final weeks of Radio Luxembourg, including his final show on Luxy.

It should be pointed out that JamieC21 isn't sure how much of the show has been capture here, it seems as if the start of both shows are missing (that's assuming Chris had an introduction link back then), also the shows (unedited) are about an hour long, although whoever copied these in the first place (Jamie mentioned in the past that the original site these were part of has since disappeared) has seamlessly edited out all of the adverts so there may be a lot more of the show here than initially thought. Both shows have a news bulletin in them (for historical reasons more than anything else) and some great cheesy "Radio Luxembourg" jingles.

Anyway without further delay, here is Chris' final two shows on Radio Luxembourg, please note that due to the age of these tapes that the sound quality fluctuates a lot.

Date: Sunday 20th December 1992
Team: Chris (solo), news read by Justin Kings, both of which Chris & Justin went on to work for Capital FM

Info: A Christmas themed show with such highlights as:
*Chris says how much he likes Lisa Stansfield
*He then buggers up on a jingle & gets mocked at by Johnathan (don't know his second name unfortunately), which in turn Chris plays about with his voice, he also reveals that he didn't buy Chris a christmas present.
*Chris claims he could sing as well as Mick Hucknell if he had a deep voice
*Chris also says how much he likes Vanessa Paradis
*Chris also comments on how "happy" Nirvana sound on their records
*Chris mocks Bernard Breslaw's "singing"
*Chris comments on Bono wearing Sunglasses on stage
*Chris has some "celebrity Christmas wishes" as well

Info: It's Chris' last ever show on Radio Luxembourg, which is closing after 59 years on air, Highlights include:
*Chris mentions throughout that it's his last ever show & that he's proud to have worked on Radio Luxembourg.
*Chris sings about Tony Adams (in a Spiderman style).
*Chris decides to play Don Henley's "Boys of Summer" seeing as it's that time of year (it's December so not linked to that time of the year at all).
*Chris does his own version of the opening of Michael Jackson's "Heal The World"
*Chris reveals that it wasn't him that was actually on air but Mike Hollis disguised as Chris (as random as you like ).
*Chris also gives his thanks to everyone at Radio Luxembourg & to the audience and plays a comedic version of Vera Lynn's "We'll meet again" (which I think is "sung" by Tommy Cooper).
*Also as a bonus there's the opening moments of Tony Adams on his last ever show.

Excellent :D

I have that follow up Moyles show on my PC, unfortunately it's knackered at the mo, I'll have to see if I can get the file off of my hard drive some how :) It's the only 2002 show I'm to edit in my archive, I'll see if I can re-copy it onto my Brothers PC :)

Absolutely, Jon Culshaw is the special guest on the show, just like old times :)

I'll see what I can do, my mate is bringing back my PC tonight as he is having a load of decorating work being done at home so doesn't want to damage it so I can't get the shows of the HD unfortunately :x

However I'll try me best to get this copied over to me Brother's PC & edited before I go to HK, can't promise anything mind :)

Its still Chris Moyles but a bit more 'local' and his voice is so much higher! Tis a bit odd!

But its good how even then he is still different!

Yeah it's a bit weird to hear at first, JamieC21 managed to source these out, I had to speed them up ever so slightly as the original recordings were a bit slow. Hope I got the right speed, I think I have at least :)
#400434
josepi wrote:That sounds all rather technical, you can't tell anyways... so I'd say that was good work! :)

Its quite weird to think that was, what? 17 years ago! The news bits were quite interesting as you just think, 'WOW those things were happening then!'

Thanks, it's hard to judge via his voice as its so high pitched, however a couple of songs on there gave me a clue (it had to be sped up by 4rpm only).

Yep that's why I leave the news bulletins in as it takes you back sometimes (although not always in a good way with some of the stories). I also leave the adverts in for the same reason :)
#400515
Thanks a lot for those '92 shows!
#400520
No probs, Jamie sourced them out.

I found a bag of tapes over the weekend & although it wasn't extra Moyles or Mark & Lard there was several tapes from between 1997-2000 from Capital FM's glory days including Chris Tarrant, Steve Penk (one show filling in for Tarrant & one of his own show), David Jensen, Doctor Fox & Neil, Neil, Neil, Long (with a couple of rather bizarre Chris Moyles ads for his late bit show).

However I doubt anyone on here would be interested in those
