TIAL wrote:That sure is an impressive list. Looks like I might be kept busy 'till the end of uni! Nothing wrong with that though :D

 I think it may take you beyond that, depends how long it takes me to copy them all over

I'm a bit miffed about that Saturday one been missing as I didn't get a chance to record many of the Saturday ones so losing one of those kind of effects the variety of Saturday shows. Had it had been a weekday one I wouldn't have minded as much, never realised I had so many Friday shows though, so that means plenty of Culshaw to come.

Anyway, onwards & upwards as they say, hopefully a few more will be copied & ready to download by this time next week :D

Top work by everyone involved.

I have hundreds of old cassettes from around 2003 - will get round to converting them one day!

Just wanted to make sure you all know about the following links:

http://www.c4h10o.co.uk/chrismoyles/

http://www.radiowaves.fm/audio/ChrisMoyles_Summer98.ram

http://www.radiowaves.fm/audio/ChrisMoy ... mber98.ram

Top link has four old Moyles shows from 97/98 on it, including Breakfast Show cover for Zoe & Kevin. The rest is highlights of Chris and the team filling in on Breakfast in 1998 - its all just unbelievably brilliant...

Thanks for those, the top link are the shows I mentioned above, I would be happy to edit them but because they're not mine I feel a bit inclined to.

As for the other two links, thanks for those, the Never Mind The Buzzcocks clip (September 1998) is interesting, as shows the start of that long running fued (bloody ten years on they still slate him). Actually there seems to be more than just that link

BTW how do I copy the to realplayer files over they only seem to save at between 400 & 600kb only, am I doing something wrong?

Just realised that I have the first ever show where they got an extra hour (after Simon Mayo left) its Monday 19th February 2001 for those who like to know these things, I did wonder why that was the first one I used two tapes for . I also have the last 1hr 45min show (minus the last 15 mins of course) from Friday 16th February 2001.

Expect to see these ones soon :D

Just been listening back to the last ever afternoon show. It's fascinating (to me at least) how his style has changed over the years. In the late 90s to early 2000's he sounded like he was on speed most of the time, really fast and high pitched. I suppose it was also the general DJ style in those days. By this last afternoon show at the end of 2003 he sounds much closer to how he does now.

So, "remember remember, the fifth of January". I don't suppose anyone has that first breakfast show do they?

That could be something to do with the tape player I'm using ;) TBH it wasn't until I was listening back to them that I could tell how much his voice had changed over the last 9-10 years, Dave's even seems a bit more squeekier back then

It was IIRC, in the two Mark & Lard shows from 2001 the links seem quicker & shorter compared to the shows from 2003, where the links are noticably longer. The only difference I'd say between the last afternoon show & current show is that he seems up for it & happy to do the show at Breakfast whereas for me the last Afternoon show felt a bit half arsed, do you agree with that Ed?

Ed Pummelon wrote:So, "remember remember, the fifth of January". I don't suppose anyone has that first breakfast show do they?

*Raises Hand* Me, Me, I have that one

I'm hopefully going to copy over a few over the next few days, one of them being the first show (I know I keep saying that but it is near the computer at the mo so I may as well do that one whilst it's here, along with the last Saturday show, the last "short" show (4:00pm-5:45pm, well 5:30pm, last 15 mins missing) & the first long show (all complete), if other things don't crop up of course), so stay tuned, as they say :D

I've also, and I've mentioned this before, got a gutload of Moyles breakfast shows from the Listen Again streams, must be nudging a thousand complete shows I'd have thought. I'll have to decide what to do with all these, I'd like to share them with anyone who'd like them. Maybe a nominal donation to Comic Relief for a load of DVDs or something. I'll spend the next couple of weeks ploughing through what I've got.

8O That sounds a superb archive. I think the best bet would be the specialist shows (New York, LA, Germany World Cup, Christmas shows, Birthday shows) at first, they'd be the most interesting of the lot, although any Moyles or Mark & Lard is good. :D

Huge Updated (all added to the first page):

Six shows added, three Moyles, three Mark & Lard, they are as follows:

Chris Moyles:

Monday 29th November 1999
Tuesday 19th December 2000
Wednesday 3rd January 2001

Just noticed something odd here which I didn't notice before, not only are the days consecutive, so are the months & years 8O

Mark & Lard:

Wednesday 24th March 2004
Thursday 25th March 2004
Friday 26th March 2004 - The Final Show

Details of these three shows to be wrote at a later date.

DC wrote:look at ken dodds happiness for example. the one from the radio 1 site is shorter than the one from the lemoncurry site. maybe if someone had the time and some good sound editing software, they could sort it all out.

I'm uploading what I've done now. To be honest, I'm not too bothered about the 10 minutes or so of stuff that comes before the record (there's plenty of that on other shows we've uploaded), so I've replaced all I can with the full versions from the lemoncurry site.
If anyone wants to take the time to put the pre-amble with the full version then i'll be happy to send them the full set of files to play with. However, I'd personally rather spend time editing the full shows the people are kindly uploading :)

* Dominic displays some of his comedic wit, of which we all know him for on today's shows & we also discover that Dominic is very much in love with a woman called Nicola, of whom he had only been with her for four months at time of transmission.

Haha, posh Dom is back! Actually, that clip is pretty cute actually, they should play that on the air and get his reaction (10 years and all that), and get Dom to get that money off Dave and Chris. Are you listening Aled?!

Yeah I did wonder whether or not we should bring it to Aled's attention, the best bit is when Dom describes his band as Excellent & Dave pulls him up on it, little did they both know that they would form Folkface all those years later

I wonder if Dom still performs with his band from time to time?

Which one was you trying to download out of interest. I might give it a check later on this evening to see if it's fine. I think myslef & TIAL have uploaded them all to Internet Archive but I can't remember if a few of the first lot I uploaded were still on Z Share or not.

If it is Z Share then they are very slow, if not then it may just be the time of day (Broadband is super quick my arse )

jocky85 wrote:It was the 1st Dec 2000 show. Just randomly picked 1 as I've never heard any of Chris's stuff apart from the Breakfast show. Any recommendations?

Ah it's probably the time of day more than anything else. It may download better this evening.

Of what's up there, the Mark & Lard shows are a must, if you're interested in them

Otherwise regarding Moyles I'd say:

Friday 14th April 2000 - To hear what the show's like without Comedy Dave

Any of the December 2000 shows, the team here just seem to be in a jolly mood & there are some funny links in there

Friday 16th March 2001 - For an example of a Comic Relief show from 8 years ago

Tuesday 23rd October 2001 - For the Ricky Thomlinson interview

Thursday 7th February 2002 - To hear Chris have a huge rant about what a crap hole the Radio 1 building is

Friday 2nd August 2002 - For all the Ibiza references especially in the Newsbeat links which are rather funny

Friday 5th December 2003 - Although one of my least favourite in my archive, this ones an important one as it's the last Afternoon Show

Friday 25th November 2005 - A normal everyday show, although for me Dominic's Westwood impression (from about 42 mins in) is comedy gold.

There all good really but those contains some great links :D

I'm getting a bit behind on these, need to download the newly uploaded ones. Thanks to all involved, including the Mark and Lard shows DownCount.

Ed Pummelon wrote:Just to reassure all those involved that you're not doing this in a vacuum, thank you once again for these, I'm really enjoying listening to some vintage Moyles. I only started listening regularly in about 2002, so this early stuff is fascinating. Keep it coming!

Glad to hear you're enjoying them :D Sometimes I do wonder if people are interested in these, although there are at least six people in this thread that enjoy them so that's at least something

There's loads more to come pre 2002, I'm slowly getting through those, although the weekend's planned recordings never happened unfortunately :(

The latest Moyles show, from Thursday 23rd March 2000 is great as Melinda is in a bit of a mood & makes sarky comments throughout, the last 8-10 mins are great as well

I've got to start copying over more of the 2001 shows soon, I've copied half of the 2000 shows now & yet have loads left to do from 2001.

Two more Moyles shows on their way soon as well as some more Mark & Lard, keep them peeled :D
