How come the old newsbeat bed is in one of the soundpacs?

I think either cos it was realesed after they changed it over, or there was a mistake where lots of newsbeat bed was played and nothing was said over it, i dunno, i am making it up.

i think i seem to remember someone talking about how KC managed to play the bed and nothing else and how they happend to be recording at the time.

vibe is the best option (except for their idents all over it!) or a new dj on the station who forget to turn the newsbeat fader up....

other than that u'll have to sneak into radio1 and tape it off the system!

there are two versions, but does chris only play the old one? i cant really see him playing the new one, its a bit bland!

No he does play the new one (the BBC TV theme).
Don't think they have a choice of which one they want to play it's done in the newsbeat studio.

without trying to sound too geeky...

the first part of the news bed is played in the studio by chris (the bit up to the first voice going "Radio 1 newbeat", just after the newsreader has said the headlines.) after that it is played from the newsbeat studio. Unless of course its the 5:45 news.

Steve Lamacq managed to play the wrong version when he was up here in Shetland so it was a mixture of old into new music.
