The b*stards at Channel 4 appear to have postponed the new Brass Eye at the last moment.
See below for the full story
www.cookandbombd.co.uk
This story does not seem to be being reported at any news/entertainment sites yet but several people have rung Channel 4 and been told the show has been postponed as it wasn’t ready for transmission. Meanwhile the usually reliable cookandbombd who reported the story first suggests the postponement has something to do with the show being about paedophilia.
CH4 Teletext also appear to be confirming this as well-this is the TV listings for tomorrow on channel 4-
>>>>
22.35 BRASS EYE Repeat Anarchic comedy in which Chris Morris tackles the contentious problem of drugs
23.10 BRASS EYE Repeat Chris Morris takes a dark and satirical look at issues of the day
<<<<<
As you can see the new episode at 10:35 has been replaced by a repeat from series 1
f.ck NOOOOOOO!!!!!
Jesus - the breezeblock session wasn't on either. I think Morris is doing this deliberately. Famously, he has had arguments with the controller of Channel 4, and only usually delivers the tapes to his shows hours before transmittion. There was one incident - Blue Jam, Series 1 Episode 6 on Radio 1, where he switched the tapes minutes before transmittion to include his infamous edited-Archbishop of Cantebury speech. Suffice to say, Radio 1 found out half way through the sketch and took it off-air. :) Class.
Cookd 'n Bomb' is an excellent site - 2nd best fan site I reckon.
the_dr

JESUS!
WOW! I am speechless. He has never been far from controversy, but this is fantastic. As I was reading the Cd&Bd forum, it closed down:
"As of Friday night this board has been closed for a while, sorry, but this isn't our choice. I'm not about to let this site be pulled over a potential legal mess."
Good job I have a copy of the latest thread on my hard drive. This day will be remembered in years to come as the day Morris fooled the media. This is a very cool and clever man. I just want to lie back and think about the implications of this - it's too much - I might write an article about it.
the_dr

Yep, the new message board has been taken down, and the message has been changed from the one a couple of minutes ago. It now reads:
"As of Friday night (6/7/01) this board has been closed for a while, sorry, but this really isn't our choice. I'm not about to let this site be shut down over a potential legal mess. Saying I was going to post clips from the Brass Eye Special before I had actually done it is probably the most witless f.ucking thing I've done in years. Sorry. "
http://chilled.cream.org/verbwh.ores/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi
The plot thickens. We've been double double bluffed, or am I being bluffed now. My hypothesis is that Morris intended to whip up a media frenzy about this 'terrible comedy program supporting peadophiles', but he failed. Unless it is true - and he had the reliatvley few Disgruntled messages posted. One thing is for certain - the whole staging of this mysterious new show, with it's subsequent post-ponment was intended - whatever it was due to be replaced by.
BUT, that still doesn't explain why the last poster on the board had claimed that he had seen THE paedophiles episode of Brass Eye, edited and ready to roll - brand new material. The only explaination I can come up with is that he has a whole new series up his sleeve, including the eposé on the power of the internet/media and the paedophile episode.
Interesting...
the_dr
[This message has been edited by the_dr (edited 06 July 2001).]

Howdy
Firstly I'd like to say - I have no background information on Brass Eye, apart from half of an episode of one I saw on E4 a few days ago. I don't know what to think of the show.. I thought it was serious to begin with, and then comical.. and well I dunno.. I think it's funny, yes!
Can someone tell me the background info, is this guy a bit of a controversial guy, and whatever - gimme all the info, I'm really interested now!

Morris - a comic genuis. See the Biographies @ http://www.cookdandbombd.co.uk for more detailed info.
He started off doing GLR, then he wrote some comedy scripts (mostly radio) and then went to Radio 1 to host his 1994 show - the Chris Morris Music Show. While there, he announced the (fake) deaths of Jimmy Saville and Michael Hesiltine (I think) - he got sacked/suspended and Jimmy threatened to sue. Morris is a very clever and funny man - a great satirist. He left Radio 1 to do the Day Today, a **** -take of news programs, which gave birth to a character you might have heard of - Alan Partridge. From there he went on to make Brass Eye, a fake current affairs documentary - an exposé on what is wrong with our society (sex, drugs, moral decline, animal cruelty). This show was very contraversial - he had to cut out huge amounts of scenes from it so it could be broadcast on Channel 4 (1997). One scene, in which the racing commentator for Channel 4 commented on the making of "Sucliffe: the music" (yorkshire ripper), had to be cut out. Morris particulary disagreed with this - so minutes before it was broadcast on C4, he switched the tapes to one with a subliminal frame in: "Michael Grade is a c*nt" (The controller of Channel 4).
From brass eye, he went all surrial on us - producing Jam, Blue Jam and Jaaaaaam. These were very surrial, vivid, disturbing images from a very twisted mind of a genius set to an ambient soundtrack. Blue Jam was broadcast on Radio 1 (1997-99), with the others going (largely uncut) on Channel 4. On the Radio 1 series, there is a scene featuring Chris Moyles:
"I'm Chris Moyles, please forgive me" says the man standing on the roof of BBC television centre, about to commit suicide.
Now here we are, in the aftermath of his latest stunt - we are his stunt. Very clever.
the_dr

He doesn't set out to offend anybody, but he is deliberately shocking. He has a very dark sense of humour, and rather than being insensitive - he is really exposing the truth.
the_dr
