Right, so I've been sitting in the pub this evening bored and skint... And the subject of the phonetic alphabet (somehow) comes up. We then decide to make our own phonetic alphabet with a theme, which (predictably) is alcohol.

The following is what we have so far, I think we’ve done quite well, but there are three that had us stumped. We were trying not to do * names, just pre-made either types of drink or brands.

A – Archers
B – Bacardi
C – Carling
D – Dooleys
E – Erreas
F – Fosters
G – Gin
H – Holsten Pils
I – IPA
J – Jack Daniels
K – Kronenbourg
L – Lambrini
M – Martini
N – Newcastle Brown
O – Olmeca (tequila)
P – Port
Q - ??
R – Rum
S – Stripe (as in Red Stripe)
T – Tetleys
U – Underberg
V – Vodka
W – Whisky (ironically the proper phonetic W)
X – XXXX
Y - ??
Z - ??

S would probably be better as Stella Artois as you wouldn't need to explain it then!

Q- Quebec, a type of rum drank in Jamaica,
Y- Yakaa, Japanese alcohol, very very potent
I have been assured these are right so please don't flame me if I am wrong!

None for Z i'm afraid!

Zywiec
Beer
ABV 5.7% • Vol 500 ml • bottle • Poland • Mid-price • Flavour 5.5
Other beers from Zywiec
Other beers from Poland

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This Polish lager sports a label with a thermometer. Apparently, the logo only shows up if the beer is the right temperature; our logos weren't in evidence, so we were probably drinking this too warm. On the nose it has grassy hops, but is slightly chemical. The body is distinctly buttery and dry with hoppy overtones. A limited, if slightly lemony, aftertaste brings to a close a disappointing, slightly metallic beer, although out of the fridge on a warm day it would be pleasant enough.
