Ah come on now, seems Gates is giving quite a large proportion of his fortune to charity now, and only leaving a mere (by his standards) $50million or so to his kids in his will, along with Microsft corporation itself.

Instead of giving all this to charity why doesn't he give back to the CONSUMERS by cutting the price of Windows and other microsoft software? That way, far fewer people would see the need to pirate or buy pirate copies and they would sell a lot more.
Same principle that the Film and Music Industries don't seem to be grasping, though at least the music industry have finally realised the power of downloading.

but without consumers he wouldn't have all that money in the first place. He'd probably still have a fair amount but I don't think it would be in the billions as it is now.

Some back to consumers in price cuts, and some to charity.
