Chris de Burgh hopes to play in Iran
The Irish singer is to perform in the country, and in doing so become the first Western artist to gig there since the Islamic state revolution in 1979.
Tehran has approved the Lady In Red star's appearance along with Iranian pop group Arian, according to their manager.
Mohsen Rajabpour, the manager of Arian - with whom de Burgh recently joined forces to record A Melody For Peace - said concerts have been planned to take place next June or July.
Rajabpour, director of Taraneh Sharghi music company, said the collaboration was intended "to reflect the peace-seeking spirit of the Iranian people to the world".
De Burgh expressed his desire to play Iran, where he holds a degree of popularity, as far back as 2002.
