R.E.M. were instantly very funny, relaxed and communicative with Jo Whiley yesterday!

Interesting to hear the Band are now onto their 14TH ALBUM! Great stuff!

Liked their devotion to their music, and it was interesting to hear who they admire, including U2 and Coldplay.

They performed their latest single, "Supernatural Superserious" - the title, it seems, comes courtesy of Chris Martin!!

As a cover for Jo, the Band did the Editors' Munich, which, as one listener commented, "sounded as though it had been written for them". Agreed.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1, should you wish to "listen again".

The band will be playing T In The Park. :-)

I liked the cover a lot (heard Moyles play it), but I think I'd rather have heard their own song, which I've not heard yet.

I love REM.

I think I may just wait for it to be played again.

Excellent, I didn't want to be the first to say that! It's a dull song, and REM are really not the band to make someone else's dull song interesting (although I like REM). But the cover was just boring. So was the original to be fair. The rest of their set was good though.

REM makes me feel old and nostalgic because they were my favourite band ages 8-12. Their performance in the Live Lounge was good, but yeah, the cover sort of sucked. I'm happy they're going back to something akin to the Document era, rather than everything post-Automatic. Man, Mike Mills looks old. I used to have such a crush on him.

Teresa Nielsen Hayden, and she's quite proud of it (though she didn't coin the term). I should write an open love letter to the mods here, but that'd be for another thread. I wish I still had my open love letters to Mike Mills from 5th grade. I have a feeling my mum has those tucked away to embarrass me at a later date.
