Whatever happened to newts? They're brilliant too, but you never see them even around ponds any more.

Urgh... I think my fear comes from my mum she's terrified of them, and the fact that someone threw one at me once.

I think my fear isn't helped with the fact that my cat brings them in and they screech. Absolutely horrible.

You are joking aren't you? They're fecking EVERYWHERE - at least they are when people want to build houses, or extensions, or anything else and the local residents (who would hate to be thought of as mere NIMBYs) suddenly become so concerned about wildlife that they phone me up to tell me about the great-crested newts which are crawling all over the area..........
