Lottie they've only actually had 2 days at school this week. They have no need to rest! They have now completed their chores ad have the afternoon to do what they want. Anyway we have even more forecast for next 3 days apparently - especially Monday - I should suggest to their teachers that they should set them homework via the website.

That's the problem with kids and teenagers, more so nowadays than even 10 years ago, they take no responsibility for anything which is why the majority of them expect life handed to them on a plate - no I'm not saying it applies to all of them by any means. I am teaching my kids responsibility. Rob is now enjoying himself as I have taught him how to cook something new. I am confident that my kids will be able to fend for themselves when they are older.

One of the 19 year olds who works for me didn't even know how to use a washing machine until just before Christmas when we all laughed at her for not being able to wash her clothes while her mum was away. As a parent I think it is my responsibility to ensure that my kids know how to do all the annoying day to day jobs that need doing so that when they eventually live on their own they will be dependent on no one.

Do you think I am wrong to do this?

I think getting their teachers to set them homework via Internet is a step too far. No-one would have suggested that when I was at school.

Well that's cos we didn't have internet. They have missed nearly a week of school and the teachers will make them work hard to catch up so if they had a bit to do while they were off then they could stay on top of it. I wasn't suggesting they set them LOADS just a few basic bits.

Nah I'm with the whole, let them lounge around or go stealing cars and mugging people or whatever else it is kids get up to these days....

Kids have too much pressure these days, a bit of time off is always good.

Which is why the world is eternally glad you don't have any children!

Snowing again here.

Had major floods here in Chelmsford on monday/tuesday, now we have more snow, which will probably mean more floods.

We had a light dusting last night but it had gone by the time I got up this morning. I was hoping for loads again so I didn't have to go to work but that didn't happen.

It started yesterday evening but thankfully didn't come to much and the roads at least are ok-ish.

It started snowing reasonably just as I was on my way to Northampton (and I was going back roads due to picking people up) but it must have rained while I was watching Dylan Moran (jealous Zoot?) because it was fine by the time I came out. I'm fed up with it now to be honest.

We had snow, which settled, but unfortunately the rain washed most of it away :(

How was Dylan Moran btw?

My auntie lives in Melbourne and has sent me some pics if her and her husband outside a little cottage a few months ago and one of it today. All that's standing is the brick chimney stack. It made her laugh when I told her how the country almost came to a standstill from the snow.
