Cars are built to take the impact now, rather than the person taking the impact.

You rammed an escort up the rear? I hope he was from a reputable agency.

Even more reason to hope he was from a reputable agency then.

I have to come to work today instead of doing things I want to be doing. That's really making me annoyed.

On Saturday, whilst out running, I decided to put some hills into my life (to make things tougher).

Anyhow, all was well, and I was running down a hill, plugged into Rhianna's "please don't stop the music", when, all of a sudden to my left, I noticed a white van was on its side, in a ditch. I observed the disgusted/angry/disbelieving expression on the driver's face, and then I realised I had, in fact, been the cause of this incident. I mouthed the words, "I'm really sorry" from the grass verge, only to be greeted with a really angry face. I decided to keep going, and two guys got out, checking the vehicle was OK, but it was still stuck. Luckily, no-one was hurt, but I quickly sped off into the horizon!

First of all, how the hell did you manage to cause that? Did it have to swerve to miss you?

Also:

...I was running down a hill...

It doesn't make it that much harder if you're going downhill.

I'm not sure exactly what happened, as I couldn't hear anything because of the music!! One minute all was well, the next, a van was on its side. And I wasn't popular.

and I had to run up the hills, before running down!! :-)

Ah, yes, but what goes down, must go up.

I'm still intrigued as to how you managed to get a van on its side. And how you knew nothing of it until after the event.

Of course you can run down hill all the way and end up back home can't you Topher, as long as you live in an Escher-esque world.

Honestly, just when I think you can't get any more pedantic.
