If I could find it, I'd play the clip of Dom, Chris & Dave when Aled leaves the studio and they go very strange - including French chat, a pub and duck sounds.

If anyone knows what show that is please, I don't think I've ever listened to that one, always liked it when they went off the cuff on the show

I listened to it fairly recently (before I broke the USB socket on my car stereo) so it'll be approx. May-July 2012.

You want more accurate than that, find someone with more time on their hands! :D

The next step is to remove it from your personal life. You'll end up catching something.

A guy I follow on twitter last night boasting about how he refused to dance to Thicke's Blurred Lines as a protest against his mysoginist lyrics.

This faux outrage from people who have been told what to think by certain publications is really irritating, for reasons outlined in this article: http://www.2marketmedia.com/if-you-are- ... re-racist/

Mysoginy exists in between 22-37% of all hip hop songs, rather than question the culture - people are just choosing an easy target who has little/no significance in the overall culture fostering these lyrics.

Interesting. It's strange that anyone would fail to notice the misogyny present in a lot of (maybe even most) hip-hop - but perhaps that only gets discussed in feminist circles. The fact that Blurred Lines has been such a huge hit has obviously made it a focal point - and really it is just a pop song. I'm pretty sure if it hasn't been for the accompanying video, it wouldn't have attracted anywhere near as much attention.

For the record, as a feminist, I don't think the song is necessarily that bad. It's easy to interpret "blurred lines" as meaning that the male protagonist assumes consent when it hasn't been given - but when you listen to the rest of the lyrics, it seems to have a slightly different meaning, and implies that it refers to the woman having a change of preferences after leaving a relationship (or something to that effect, it's quite early and I'm not phrasing it as eloquently as I could). So I don't really have a problem with it, although of course others might interpret it differently. The video is a different kettle of fish, and three fully dressed married men chasing around and manhandling naked or semi-naked dead-eyed models is not especially appealing to me. But if you're just talking about deciding whether to dance to a song in a nightclub, the video shouldn't be a factor.

God I love analysing pop culture. Miley Cyrus, anyone?... :)

Feminists should really just get over themselves and enjoy the music. Stop analysing everything so hard until it fits in with your feminist agenda. That's not directed at Nic personally but at hardcore militant feminists.

You're right that over-analysing can give one a headache. I often do it without even realising though - tv, films and music just make me, you know, think about stuff. But I'm able to enjoy hideously sexist bands like the Bloodhound Gang - some of their lyrics would give Robin Thicke a nosebleed. So maybe I'm not too bad.

You aren't anywhere near as bad as some feminists are. On Twitter last week I encountered a group who go round looking for examples of sexism and will then post a particular persons tweet on to their weekly mysogonist hall of shame regardless of the context of their tweet. I'm all for equality etc but their are people out their who give feminists a bad name.

It's a fact that you are anti feminist. Absolute fact.

If that is incorrect then you tell me but from just observing the twitter arguments you have with certain female members it would appear that you are anti feminism. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Speaking of "isms". I was surprisingly irked by the BET awards on the telly last night (Black Entertainment Awards, the wife wanted it on) and the cast for one show or another were wheeled on to accept an award and the speech went something like this :

"Thanks for the award, I was at a wedding last night and of course there was lots of dancing"
"What would a wedding be without dancing?"
"A white wedding."

Which put me back in mind of this place and the "ethnic minorities can't be racist" argument that was being pedalled. I nearly wrote to the Daily Mail to express my disgust.

I just lost my son on Weymouth beach. Never lost either of my kids before and I almost had a heart attack especially as the last place I saw him was paddling in the sea. Little bugger and wondered off from his sister and ended up about 100 yards away from me at the boat hire place.

When we were in Bournemouth a few weeks ago a 3 year old girl went missing for an hour and the police had the helicopter out and everything. They found her about a mile and a half away, so so scary. A few times I have turned round and Reuben has not been there and even though it is just for a few seconds my heart is in my mouth.
