Apparently its a hoax. I was going to buy a Krispy Kreme Glazed donut in tribute but I'll cancel my plans now.

But you could have one in celebration of the fact that he is alive! Or just because they are the best thing to put in your mouth in the world.

It used to happen every year at Reading Festival. It was a tradition. Eamonn Holmes, Lenny Henry & Paul Daniels were all killed off.

Seminal folk guitarist Arthel 'Doc' Watson - hugely talented despite being blind since childhood - has died aged 89. RIP.

Just saw that actress Kathryn Joosten has died of lung cancer - best known for Desperate Housewives, but very familiar to me as Donny's Mom from My Name Is Earl and also bit-parts in Frasier, Ally McBeal and Will & Grace. RIP.

Bloody hell, I've become like the harbinger of doom on this thread. Sci-fi, horror and mystery writer Ray Bradbury has died aged 91. RIP.

You're channelling Zenon.

I didn't realise Ray Bradbury was that sort of age - good writer. Oh no.

He may not be a big name in world football, but it's sad to hear that Manuel Preciado has died, 24 hours after his appointment as Villareal manager. He ended Jose Mourinho's 9 year unbeaten spell in domestic leagues at home so he can't have been a poor manager!

Wow - 24 hours? Even the Defence Against the Dark Arts teachers at Hogwarts usually managed a year before they came to a sticky end.

I don't want to get too political but it's so sad to see the families slaughtered in Syria. Its disgusting that grown men who are trained to kill go in to homes at night and kill small kids. It makes me sick.

And the world sits back and watches it happen. Guess there is no oil in Syria.

Yeah wheres the WMD when you need them? Sad that in this case, it would be perfectly acceptable to make something like that up, yet they won't.

The right solution is not necessarily military... if that happened, innocent people would still die, as they always do. The campaign group Avaaz has one potential answer:

Avaaz wrote:Today another 27 children's bodies were found massacred in Syria. To stop this horror, we need to cut off the flow of arms to the regime. There is one way to do it, but it's going to take all of us working together to make it happen.

Here’s how: India and the US are key clients to Syria’s main weapons supplier -- the state-owned Russian company Rosoboronexport. If we can get the two countries to threaten to halt all deals unless the Russians stop supporting Syria's murder machine, the arms dealers could be forced to stop their Syria sales. Both the US and India want to stop the violence in Syria, but diplomacy is failing. This is their best chance -- let's give them a massive mandate to act.

The US has already persuaded the company to stop light weapons sales to Syria. Now if we can build up the pressure on India and get both countries to speak out, Rosoboronexport could be forced to cut Syria's arms supply completely. Sign the urgent petition to stop dealing death to Syria and tell everyone -- our call will be delivered to both countries and Rosoboronexport at a massive arms fair in Paris in 3 days.

I'm very sceptical about petitions, but look it costs nothing but a few seconds to sign and even if there is a tiny chance of saving the lives of Syrian people, who wouldn't try it?

Craig Breen's co-driver Gareth Roberts was killed in today's IRC Targa Florio rally in an accident at SS8. People say the accident was very similar to the one that severely injured F1 driver Robert Kubica early last year, who is still recovering today (I can't describe the accident out of respect since it's fairly gruesome and it's still too early after this tragic development). Half of a very promising team gone, just like that. Oh no.
