Ha. The jizz scene is brilliant. I really wanted to like that film, it just didn't hit any of the right notes for me.

Very, Very, action packed. Hardly even a few seconds go by without an expolsion of some sort. Trust me it is a good blockbuster/popcorn film.

I'm reliably told it's good but takes itself very seriously. Also that my friend hasn't seen that much CGI since Transformers.

My wife and I took our two kids to see Monsters University this afternoon. I liked it quite a bit. The animation is spectacular as usual for Pixar and the story is pretty good as well. Besides the two main characters only a few from the first movie have anything more than cameo appearances. On the other hand, the short film that always precedes the full length Pixar films was kind of disappointing. The animation was first-rate, but the story itself was nothing to write home about.

I'm very excited for Despicable Me 2. Just gotta try to get in an evening showing so the cinema isn't full of kids :)

Over the weekend I watched both Total Recall (2012) and Resident Evil: Retribution.

Total Recall is okay, better than I imagined it would be.
I think if you haven't seen the original it would work better. Some good ideas and some decent action sequences.
The effects are very impressive and the acting is pretty decent.
Except for Kate Beckinsale.
She's shit.

Resident Evil: Retribution.
Wank.
Big pile of wank.
I should have known better after the 4th instalment but have stuck by it so far, but by Christ, what a pile of wank.
What happened to the zombie infected populous that the Umbrella Corp created?
* knows cause this movie has become a parody of the game it was created from.
* Russian zombie soldiers wielding chainsaws? Zipping about on * motorbikes? Get tae *.
Total wank.

If you could let me know it would be great! I currently have it above die hard thanks to Jay's comment. I might get a little sliding scale going...

That is not a measure of a good film, unless you're a hormonal pre-teen.

I watched the first Despicable Me yesterday. While it was really good, I have to say that Megamind (which is quite similar) is better. Except for the soundtrack - Pharrell is really rather good.

The minions were good - as I said, I liked the film, but very similar to Megamind (which came out after Despicable Me). Going to start watching more animated films methinks.

Man of Steel.

Good Film, well made, fantastic effects, 3D awesome.

But it did take itself WAY to seriously.

It's a comic story, there should have been some humor surely?

That's what I like about the Marvel universe - they keep closer to the style of the comic books. Maybe it's just Joss Whedon /mancrush.

Joss Whedon is a legend.

Buffy, Angel were amazing

Firefly was something else, I cant understand why firefly was cancelled after one series and stuff like TOWIE and made in chelsea exists. nonsense. also to keep it within film. I rewatched star trek 2 and its still amazing,

spoiler

That bit where the enterprise goes through the clouds then rises back up when kirk gets the engines working, similar to the scene in the first film with the rings of saturn. Its something that just makes you smile.

We watched the 1937 Heidi with Shirley Temple on Friday night, it's a classic! Daughter moaned when I put it on then sat there transfixed!

Balance was restored with Abducted with the Barky one off of Twilight. Actually a very good film, enjoyed it, all bar when him and the chick were kissing, with those two sets of eyebrows, there had to be some velcro action going on!

It's more a reflection on budget and the necessary quality needed to keep an audience engaged as opposed to how good each show is. Reality TV shows have an audience which have incredibly low standards when it comes to writing and acting - not to mention they're churned out weekly to the lowest common denominator so their turnover time will be a few days for each episode.

Writing, production and personnel costs for a single season of MIC/Towie/Jersey Shore etc. will likely be similar to the cost of making one episode of Firefly.

Yeah, TOWIE costs essentially nothing to make (until the "stars" start demanding their cut). Firefly cost $2m per episode.
