I hate smoking. Am really looking fwd to the ban on smoking in public places in Scotland coming in in 2006. It'll be a breath of fresh air!

I'm not a smoker but accept that in pubs people are allowed to smoke, it doesn't bother me.

It bothers me but not for much longer cause of these new laws. I hate it when you come home from a night out and are stinking with smoke. They have these anti smoking laws in Italy already and it makes a real difference.

Ireland got it right. They just said from a certain time you cant smoke in pubs.
Some pubs with the right extraction in are ok, but smaller pubs tend to trap in more smoke. Nightmare when you can smell the smoke on your clothes the day after. Kinda does piss you off.
They should build pubs with a smoke room, a bar and a lounge like they did years ago.

Heres something I was told recently, by someone who builds passenger aircraft......

Smoking in an airliner makes the air cleaner!

The reasoning behind this is that when people used to smoke on an aircraft, the airline had to keep the air free from smoke, (due to some technical issue :? ) so they needed to filter the air in the cabin with a higher amount of 'fresh air' at a higher rate.
Now, because there isn't smoke in the air, they use less 'fresh air' in the cabin than before (due to cost).
This has resulted in the traces of carbon monoxide being higher than before (albeit, within 'legal' levels) and therefore their is more aggresive behaviour on more flights (especailly worsened when mixed with alcohol)

As Walter Sobchak said; "I did not know that"

He works for Airbus in Bristol, He probably thought he was bigging himself up, by coming out with that.
I usually watch the brilliant QI but don't remember that one, now I feel defrauded! :?

think it was the first series. QI has at least 5 facts every episode that i still refuse to believe even after they say it.

They admitted a few weeks ago that Fry could say absolutley anything and people would believe it.

I heard Alan Davies saying that, in an interview.
I think you really have to listen to what Mr. Fry is saying carefully, he is a excellent wordsmith, and no doubt the researchers are too..... For example, A Strawberry is not a fruit but a banana is, this is a fact only if you are talking scientifically, but as the strawberry is a berry in the english language then it is a berry.

It's only on the second page. Hardly epic.
