I'm more worried about them getting the various stadia and olympic village etc built on time. They nearly didn't do it in Athens and the experience of the new Wembly isn't exactly comforting. Perhaps they should be concentrating on that instead of bringing out pointless crap logos. (rant over)

I've come across before - isn't plural for Lego Lego?

Id say lego is they name of the product?

The individual bits should be called "bricks" I would have thought? So one lego brick / 20 lego bricks.

So if you ditch the word "bricks" then it would just be made from "lego".

Just my take on it...

Lego is obviously a trade marked name, but I was reading this article the other day about a company that breached this trademark, snuck through the system and didn't get done for ages.
The company produced little toy bricks (which is not illegal, Duplo etc etc do it). Anyway each little brick was labelled 0637 in black letters, again the UK patent office didn't notice anything wrong and allowed the product to go to market. It wasn't until some mum (who happened to be a patent attourney) turned one of the bricks upside down that they realised that the trademark was indeed breached.

(I apologise for that boring story, I've just re-read it to check the spelling and bored myself, but I've taken the time to write it, so I think I'll let it go to post.)

*googles it*

Ok, bad example, I was trying to imply that you can make building blocks like lego, but you can't call them lego.

I like that one too. Maybe they thought foreigners wouldn't 'get' it, so to speak.

I still like the original one, but some of these alternatives are very good.

I don't think it was ever in the frame; these are ones submitted to the BBC after the unveiling of the official one.

That last one that Topher posted is good, why oh why didn't they choose that one!

Also, on the subject of whether it will be finished on time...
I had to go to Weymouth recently, and was held up for nearly 40 minutes on one of the 2 main roads into Weymouth because of an accident.
Just can't help thinking how bad is it going to be for the Olympics???

I don't know of any plans to improve the roads into weymouth, but the whole area is historically important, so they're bound to have opposition against whatever they do.

Epilepsy fears over 2012 footage - I know it says it was the footage at the launch, not the actual logo but:
