I don't watch TV that much anymore, and the only show I listen to on the Radio is Moyles'. As for the newspapers and 'mags', they could be filled with Mike Read stuff for all I know.

I'm fairly certain that I can go in living without knowing who these (so called) celebrities are. Although it would seem that, as many tabloids have discovered, many people cannot.

How over-sensational is that? Jaws? They mean some random great white shark presumably; so a creature that lives in the sea, was spotted in the sea; how is that even news? (NB: I haven't read the article).

This was front page news on Saturday, when I was sat in the barbers. It's reported to be a great white, though that's not certain, by any stretch.

By contrast:
BBC News Report wrote:Cornish shark conservationist Richard Peirce, who saw the footage, said the possibility it was a Great White could not be ruled out.

But coastguards have dismissed the claims as "scare-mongering".

...

Mr Peirce, chairman of the Shark Trust, said it was impossible to make a conclusive identification and that it could have also been either a Mako or a Porbeagle shark.

It is significant to note that I had to go to the Cornwall section of the BBC News web site to find this, and even then it wasn't anywhere near the top story. For it to be The Sun's top story is, as you say, sensationalist to say the least.

I can't see what the issue is with the shark story. Its in the sea. This is where the sharks live.

As Billy Connolly pointed out, if it came walking into Woolworths biting people on the arse, then fair enough.

Frank Butcher

Ta, although I'm still none-the-wiser. I guess you can tell that I haven't really watched Eastenders a lot.

Pat Butcher's husband... what planet are you on.

A planet on which I don't know who Mike Read is.

Have you seen Snatch? He was the Jewish * Diamond smuggler (I forget his name)

I've seen it, but I can't picture him at the moment. I've got it on DVD somewhere though so I may take a 'Butchers' (Ha) at it later.

Are you deliberately trying to be difficult, or are you genuinely having trouble understanding this?

Both of them were Brick Top indeed.
Still class.

Mike Read was in that movie, as Doug 'The Head', and I think he was a diamond dealer/broker of some kind.

Sorry after having read this whole thread I now feel the need to point out that its Mike REID.

Thank you. (Although that was a rare outbreak of the spelling police on my part).
