You can get a freshly made sandwich with your choice of a wide range of toppings and have it heated or toasted of numerous different breads; what's not to get?

I personally can't stand subway......... a) because they're WAAAAAAAAY too expensive, b) they're usually rank and unfilling, and c) they fall into the "it's trendy to have one" category, along with starbucks and smoothies.

I do like smoothies, I don't like Starbucks because I can't stand coffee and hate walking into a shop where all you can smell is coffee beans.

Because I can never choose. I go in and ask for a "cheese sandwich".

"what size would you like sir?
"What? What size can I have?"
"you can have either a foot or six inches"
**avoids obvious joke**
"Ehh, I'll have the six inches then"
"and what sorta bread do you want?"
**groans**
"what kind of bread can I have?"
"you can have white bread, wheat bread, italian bread, honey oat bread, hearty italian bread, a deli roll or a wrap."
"can I have white, please."
"What filling would you like?"
"cheese"
"what sort of cheese"
**explodes**

etc etc etc

I've even tried just going in and pointing at something on the menu and saying "i want one of those", but I still get a hundred questions. Asda is a lot more straight forward.

Topher wrote:Yeah, they ask that over here as well. The best time to go to the cinema is when most other people are working (unfortunately I am also normally at work in these hours.) Going to see a popular film on the first weekend of release is a no-no if you don't want a load of loud kids in there.

Agreed. Also been to see Previews of films, which are always practically empty. I had a day off recently where I went to see Pirates of the Caribbean 3, that was a friday morning showing and was still busy but no kids. Sadly at the moment you may still get kids in there in the week... bladdy summer holidays...

I think it depends foot-loose, I wouldn't on a weekend, but if it was in the week when people are at work it's fine. I've seen a few people going on their own at this time.

I use my mobile whilst in hospital with gay abandon. It does no harm to anything. I don't like going to the cinema, they always have it on so loud my ears shut down and all I can hear is throbbing in my head. Subway is a waste of money (see other thread). Popcorn is wonderful.

How does one actually use a phone with gay abandon. Do you mince about the place ordering Sound of Music DVDs and Rose wine?

Incidently, the card board box that pop corn comes in actually costs more than it's contents....... there you go fact fans.

I'm not sure why I wrote "with gay abandon" - it just kind of slipped out, and then I looked at it, and thought I'd leave it. My popcorn comes in a shiny plastic bag with Sainsbury's Toffee Popcorn printed on it. I have no doubt the bag plus the contents cost a micro fraction of the amount I pay for it. Which isn't much.

i always liked it when it was slightly burnt, is that weird?
the best popcorn at home comes off the stove-top. i didn't realize that until my aunt bought me a stove-top popper and made me make it for her. it's so good!

A stove top popper? I do mine in a saucepan with a lid! Have to hold the lid on though.

a stop top popper is basically a big pot with a lid that snaps on and a crank to turn the kernels around. it's a pain to clean, but fool proof to use.
this is the one i have:

A nurse told me last week that it was a load of nonsense. We were talking about her motorbike when she produced her mobile to show me photos of it - I was more interested in how she was allowed her mobile in a hospital. She said that unless your phone was sitting on top of a heart monitor, it wasn't gonna make any difference.*

Same goes for planes, I think.

So unless you park your plane on top of a heart monitor, it won't make any difference?
