I have not researched this, so it could be a load of baws that i'm about to talk...
Coke Zero has some kinda chemical in it that sweetens it. This chemical is not the same as the one in Thin Coke. This new chemical tastes more like sugar than the Thin Coke variety. Therefore, Coke Zero tastes more like Fat Coke. I agree that Fat Coke is the future of the Coke franchise, however, for those out their that aint as fussy as others, Coke Zero offers an "almost Fat Coke" experience without the sugary side effects.
Now, some may ask "if they have created a drink that tastes like Fat Coke without the sugary side effects, why not either remove Fat Coke or Diet Coke?".
I think the answer is that it doesn't completly taste of Fat Coke and loads of folk seem to prefer the taste of Diet Coke. I think those people are odd.
Easy.
